  3. Homework/Project Policy • Homework is assigned on a regular basis and due the following day unless stated otherwise. • Students are expected to use their agenda planners. • Homework assignments may be viewed online at TeacherWeb.com which can be accessed from District website. • If homework is not completed on the due date a student may have an opportunity at lunch to work on that late assignment.

  4. Homework/Project Policy • Each teacher has their own late work policy which will be communicated to students • Grades will be posted and students will be responsible for checking grades. • Eschool is available for parents to check students assignments and grades online. • Homework Club will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:10 to 3:45. Bussing is available.

  5. Absent Work • Student handbook states that a student has 2 days to make up missing work due to an absence. • It is the student’s responsibility to get any absent/missing assignments from his/her teacher. • If you call and request student’s absent work it is due upon the student’s return to school.

  6. Grading Scale A 100% - 90% B 89% - 80% C 79% - 70% D 69% - 60% F 59% and lower

Crusader Discipline Policy BCMS has adopted a behavior monitoring system which is a proactive systems approach to establishing the behavioral supports and social culture needed for all students in a school to achieve social, emotional, and academic success. Crusader Discipline Policy • Discipline may be in the form of… • Send-Back which will result in after school detention • After school detention (held Wednesday from 3:10-3:45) • Referrals to the office • Gross misconduct WILL NOT be tolerated in instances on gross misconduct, a student will be sent directly to the office. Behaviors that warrant a detention include, but are not limited to • Excessive tardiness • Gum chewing • Not prepared for class • Disruptive behavior in the classroom • Inappropriate language or actions • Inappropriate dress • Being sent back to homebase

Parent – Teacher Communication Who do you call with questions? • General questions --- homebase teacher • Subject-specific questions --- call subject teacher • Any issues or concerns that arise, please address those concerns with the teacher first, if the issue is not resolved you may then contact administration: • Mr. Gries, Principal • Ms. Bye, Assistant Principal • Mrs. Homb, Assistant Principal

  10. How and when can you get in a hold of the teachers? Parent – Teacher Communication • Teacher’s phone numbers and email can be found… • Pamphlet (if you do not have one, pick one up tonight) • District website • TeacherWeb • Crusader teachers office hours: • Monday – Friday 8:00a.m. – 10:00a.m. and 3:15p.m. – 3:45p.m.

Parent – Teacher Communication How will I know how my child is doing? • Eschool Parent Grade Access • Call teachers during office hours • Midterm report cards send home (after 4 ½ weeks) • Parent Teacher Conferences • Conferences are scheduled for November 9th and 10th • Information will be sent home sometime in October • In order to check your lunch account balance, go online to district website under Support Services. This will also tell you what your child is eating (buying) for lunch.

  12. Parent – Teacher Communication Parent Questionnaire This year we have created a parent questionnaire that we would like the parents to fill out. In this questionnaire, the parents will provide us with information that they want us to know about their child, best time to contact, etc… Parents can fill this questionnaire out online (preferably) or a paper copy will be sent home. The online link will be sent home with the student. Thank you for you cooperation in helping make this year a great success!

  17. Displays • Today’s attendance • Today’s schedule (shows A-day or B-day) • Classwork for the week (if teachers have them posted) • “Incidents” are not yet tracked online

  18. Displays • Schedule for the entire year (all Encore, PE, and Health classes)

  19. Displays Calendar *place cursor or and Absent Codes arrow on specific date to view code

  20. Displays your student’s classes • Click on each class to view assignments, grade received, missing assignments, and teacher notes • Blank grade box means the assignment has not been turned in. A “zero” means no points were received. An “EX” means the student was excused from the assignment.

  21. Click on the Student’s Points column to view notes from teacher.

Dress Code • No pajama pants or boxer shorts • No see-through clothing • No sleeveless boys or girls • No midriffs showing • Shorts and skirts must come to the bottom of your finger • No hats, coats, or sunglasses in the building • No obscene words, alcohol, tobacco, or drugs • No torn or ripped clothing

Snack • Snack time daily during 4th hour (approximately 11:00 a.m.) • Students may bring their own healthy snack • Students may buy snack for $0.50 here at school • No sharing of snack • Some snack suggestions: • Fruit –apple, banana, grapes • Veggies – carrots, celery sticks • Crackers – Wheat Thins, Goldfish ***No beverages, candy, or chips please***

  25. Field Trips Occasionally, field trips are used to enhance classroom learning or to provide students with cultural opportunites. In the past we have gone to places such as: • Shedd Aquarium • Field Museum • Museum of Science and Industry • Medieval Times **Students who have been suspended from school will be excluded from attending the next field trip

Crusader T-Shirts • Each student is assigned to a homebase teacher who is the student’s last teacher of the day • Each homebase has been assigned a color • Ms. Sisson will be selling Crusader t-shirts • Red, Green, Purple, Blue and yellow • Cost $10 • Sizes –Small, Medium, Large, X-Large (Adult sizes
