Throughout history, the body has been a canvas for cultural constructs of beauty and identity, exemplified by Greek statues, the 18th-century ideal of the "full-figured" woman, and the shift from the voluptuousness celebrated by Renoir to the thinness culture of the 1960s. Recent trends emphasize a fitness culture and a rising demand for cosmetic surgery, particularly among women under 25. Various societal pressures shape perceptions of beauty, impacting relationships and self-esteem, while also revealing underlying issues of racism, gender norms, and personal inadequacies.
