  2. Luke and Bruce went to see Nate one day. He sat on a stool, playing his flute. “Nice tune!” said Bruce.

  3. "Nate, do you want to go for a ride on my tube?" asked Luke. "No," said Nate. "I don't mean to be rude, but I can’t swim and your tube is too small. I am a big dude.”

  4. "Well," said Luke, "I can get a big tube for you. You won't get stuck. You can use the spare tube from my dad's truck."

  5. "I don't know," said Nate. "Don't try to lure me. I have pure bad luck when I'm in a tube. I get stuck in all the crude spots. I think I'll stay here and play my flute."

  6. "Just let us show you this tube. You will want to use it, I'm sure," said Luke. Nate did not have a chance to say no. Luke and Bruce ran to get the tube.

  7. Nate hoped to go but he feared the swift stream. "If you use a swim vest, you will be safe," Nate’s Mom told him. “I guess that’s true,” Nate said.

  8. Luke and Bruce came back in a flash. "My dad said it was okay to use his tube. His rule for using the tube is to just have fun," said Luke. “He said to meet us at his truck and he will get us to the stream, then Bruce's mom can pick us up when we are done.”  

  9. Nate saw the huge tube and a smile lit on his face. "Luke, that is cool!" Nate said. "That is one fat tube.”

  10. Nate put on his vest and ran with Luke and Bruce to the truck. Luke's dad drove the boys to the stream. Nate's tube ride was pure fun.

  11. As they came to a slow stop at the end of the ride, Nate said, "Thanks, Bruce and Luke. I can't swim too well, but I sure can float in a huge tube like this.” 

  12. “And now we know what you want for your birthday in June,” said Bruce. “Oh, yes. That is true!” said Nate with a grin.
