  1. BEING A CHRISTIAN OF TODAY CHRISTS’ WAY

  2. TOPICS TO BE ADDRESSED: • MORNING DEVOTION • PRAYER • SPREADING THE GOSPEL • LOVE

  3. MORNING DEVOTION • WHAT DOES MORNING DEVOTION MEAN TO YOU? • WHAT DOES MORNING DEVOTION MEAN TO ME? • WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY? • A QUOTATION FROM DESIRE OF AGES…

  4. WHAT DOES MORNING DEVOTION MEAN TO YOU?

  5. WHAT DOES MORNING DEVOTION MEAN TO ME?

  6. Morning devotion is a time in the morning devoted to me and God. It is when I read the Bible and spiritual books… in order for me to understand His word more and find out the spiritual blessings that lie in the Word. It is when we talk… I open in prayer so that the Holy Spirit guides me in understanding that which I will read and to give me wisdom to discern that which the Lord is saying to me at that particular time. I close in prayer so that that which I have read stays in my heart and mind. “Talking to God before sunrise”-Anonymous

  7. WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY?

  8. LETS OPEN OUR BIBLES TO… • PSALM 119VS11 • COLOSSIANS3VS 16

  9. Under guidance of the Holy Spirit, the mind that is devoted unreservedly to God develops harmoniously and is strengthened to comprehend and fulfill the requirements of God. The weak, vacillating character becomes changed to one of strength and steadfastness. Continual devotion establishes so close a relation between Jesus and Hos disciple that the Christian becomes like Him in mind and character. Through connection with Christ he will have a clearer and broader views. His discernment will be more penetrative, his judgment better balanced. He who longs to be of service to Christ is so quickened by the life-giving power of the Sun of Righteousness that he is enabled to bear much fruit to the glory of God…(continued)

  10. Men of the highest education in the art and sciences have learned precious lessons from Christians in humble life who were designated by the world as unlearned. But these obscure disciples had obtained an education in the highest of all schools. They sat at the feet of Him who spoke as “never man spoke”-DOA; chp25. It would be well for us to spend a thoughtful hour each day on contemplation of the life of Christ. We should take it point by point and let the imagination grasp each scene, especially the closing ones. As we thus dwell upon His great sacrifice for us, our confidence in Him will be more constant, our love will be quickened and we shall be more deeply imbued with His Spirit.- DOA chp8

  11. PRAYER • WHAT IS PRAYER TO YOU? • HOW HAS PRAYER CHANGED YOUR LIFE? • WHAT DOES THE BIBLE HAVE TO SAY? • QUOTATION FROM DOA AND STEPS TO CHRIST

  12. WHAT IS PRAYER TO YOU?

  13. WHAT DOES THE BIBLE HAVE TO SAY?

  14. In the secret prayer, a place where no eye but God’s can see, no ear but His can hear, we may pour out the most hidden desires and longings to the Father of the infinite pity and in the hush and silence of the soul that voice which never fails to answer the cry of human need will speak to our hearts. – Thoughts from the Mount of Blessings;chp4

  15. … by idle talk, evil speaking or neglect of prayer, we may in one day lose the Saviors‘ presence, and it may take many days of sorrowful search to find Him and regain the peace we have lost… Many attend religious services and are refreshed and comforted by the Word of God ; but through neglect of meditation, watchfulness and prayer , they lose the blessing and find themselves more destitute than before they receive it. Often they fell that God has dealt hardly with them. They do not see that the fault is their own. By separating themselves from Jesus, they have shut away the light of His presence. – Desire of Ages; chp8

  16. Prayer is the opening of the heart to God as to a friend. Not that it is necessary in order to make known to God what we are, but in order to enable us to receive Him. Prayer does not bring God down to us , but brings us up to Him. Jesus Himself, while He dwelt among men, was often in prayer. Our Savior identified Himself with our needs and weakness, in that He became a suppliant, a petitioner, seeking from His Father fresh supplies of strength, that He might come forth braced for duty and trial…(continued)

  17. God is ready and willing to hear the sincere prayer of the humblest of His children and yet there is much manifest reluctance on our part to make known our wants to God. We should pray in the family circle and above all we must not neglect secret prayer, for this is the life of the soul. It is impossible for the soul to flourish while the prayer is neglected… In solitude let the soul be laid open to the inspecting eye of God. Secret prayer is to be heard only by the prayer-hearing God. - Steps to Christ; chp11

  18. SPREADING THE GOSPEL

  19. Apart from Christ, our work is fruitless and it is easy to distrust and murmur. But when He is near we labor under His direction, we rejoice in the evidence of His power. It is satan’s work to discourage the soul, it is Christ’s work to inspire with faith and hope… He whose Word could gather the fishes from the sea could also impress human hearts and draw them by the cords of His love, so that His servants might become “fishers of men”. The Lord Jesus seeks the cooperation of those who will become unobstructed channels for the communication of His grace…(continued)

  20. …The first thing to be learned by all who would become workers together with God is the lesson of self-distrust; then they are prepared to have imparted to them the character of Christ. This is not to be gained through education in the most scientific schools. It is the fruit of wisdom that is obtained from the divine Teacher alone… There is no limit to the usefulness of the one who by putting self aside, makes room for the working of the Holy Spirit upon his heart and lives a life wholly consecrated to God- Desire of Ages; chp25

  21. LOVE • WHAT IS LOVE? “It is a principle”-T.Cibi “If you want to know what love is read 1Corthinians13vs1-8 and 13”-Anonymous SHALL WE OPEN OUR BIBLES TO JOHN 13VS35!
