  1. Medics’ Give It A Go!

  2. Netball:are holding two sessions on 31st Jan and 7th Feb 7.15-9pm in the sports hall the edge. You’ll need to be a sports user member or pay £4 to get in. Medics’ netball is a great way of enjoying the sport whilst meeting lots of girls in different years; we welcome all standards and hope that you will join as at the both, or one of the give it a go sessions coming up. Contact um07jc@leeds.ac.uk with queries. Orchestra:Medics' Orchestra will be doing GIAG evenings on Tuesday 1st February, and Tuesday 8th February at 7pm in the Catholic Chaplaincy on St. Mark's Avenue. We will be holding our normal weekly rehearsals, with the chance for anyone whose interested to come along and meet members of the society to see what sort of things we play. It's always a fun and relaxed way to meet other medics, dentists and nurses who enjoy music, and we welcome any musicians of any level. Rugby: We’ll meet on February 2nd and February 9th at Weetwood playing fields on the 3G from 6-7:30pm for rugby training; kit will be available to purchase at both sessions MedSin: come along for a talk from Dr Trudie Roberts explaining the impact of the new white paper for health (Health and Social Care Bill 2011) and the effect that it will have on a career in the NHS and beyond. We’ll meet in ARC meeting room 5 at 7pm. It's something that's very relevant to all medics that otherwise wouldn't be covered in the curriculum. CantoresMedicorum: (aka Medics choir) will be holding a Give It A Go session on Thursday 3rd and 10th February from 7-9pm in the Catholic Chaplaincy on St. Marks Avenue. CantoresMedicorum is a friendly and relaxed choir who welcomes anyone, no audition required. We sing a range of music and are open to any requests! The Choir is a great chance to socialise with other medics from all years and to keep up with your singing! We’d love to see some new faces, so come along and give it a go!!

  3. MedSoc Charities: are hosting a Meet and Greet Session on 4th February 1-2pm in MTC Room L. Hockey:We’re hosting an open event on the 4th February at 8pm on the Weetwood hockey pitches. All levels of hockey are welcome - even those who have never even picked up a hockey stick! We have training once a week and all standards come and play. We usually divide into groups for coaching and come together at the end to play a mini game. Our matches are on Sunday and we also hold fitness classes once a week including circuit training, spinning and step training. Our club have 3 teams, we enter the mixed yorkshire league, NAMS league and intramural. Cricket:We will be hosting two indoor net sessions at the Edge sports hall on 4th and 11th Feb at 8-9pm. Two nets will be running; one for beginners where a few of the lads will be giving coaching and tips on technique, and the other a normal net for regular players. We hope to attract players of all ability especially after England's success in the Ashes. It'll be great to get as many people as possible interested in the sport. We're not hugely serious, we have a laid back, friendly culture. Homed: HOMED’s GIAG is planned to take place on the 5th of Feb and will involve going around Leeds town centre giving out food and hot drinks to the big issue sellers other homeless people. Meet at 1pm outside level 4 entrance of the Worsley Building. Badminton:come along on the 5th February at 2-4pm in Gryphon Sports Centre. The session is for everyone, whether you want to come down just have a friendly knock around or wanting to improve and get some advice! We have spare rackets and loads of shuttles plus we'll have extra courts so everyone will be able to play and have loads of fun!!! Sexpression: are running an open training session on the 7th of February from 6pm-8pm in meeting room 2 in the ARC.

  4. PULSE: On 8th February drop in between 12 and 2pm an MTC room TBC. Come along and meet the P.U.L.S.E committee to find out about the Primary care intercalated BSc and exciting events that we have planned for the rest of the year, including talks and the national student primary care conference. Wilderness Medicine:  on Tuesday 8th February we’ve booked the climbing wall for anyone to come and have a go. We will meet at 7:30pm at the Edge gym and go to Old Bar for the pub quiz afterwards. Tennis:are hosting a give-it-a-go session at Batley Tennis Club, 9-10.30pm on Wednesday 9th February. All standards are welcome however a small charge of one pound will need to be provided to put towards court costs.  Usually we organise a car pool (meet at 8.20pm outside Sainsburys Local in Hyde park) but if there are lots of people we may have to organise taxi shares too for the extras to get to Batley.  Email charlottehine999@hotmail.com for more details. Kenyan Orphan Project: are having a GIAG session for those who would love to see the smile their fundraising puts on plenty of orphaned Kenyan Children's faces. Sound like you? Check KOP out!! GIAG is on Thurs 10th February in MTC room H at 1pm Christian Medical Fellowship: are having an open event on 10th Feb in MTC O at 1pm and the theme is "life as a christian medic”. Anyone is welcome to come along to find out what CMF is all about! Psyched:(Psychiatry society) are hosting an open event on 11th Feb at 5pm-8pm, meeting in the union foyer. Get psyched! An hour in the World of Mental Health! Ever thought you'd make a great psychiatrist? Think its all rubbish? Just want to see a great show? Come to Psychiatry GIAG! We will have stations showing different mental health issues and chances to interact or diagnose.
