  2. Elder Ordination Training: 1. How many Elder’s were chosen by Moses and briefly explain why? Seventy (70). To handle the more smaller matter of things and allow him to spend more quality time with God, and with matters of greater importance.

  3. Elder Ordination Training: 2. Briefly identify at least five roles of the New Testament Elder. • Leader (Genuine) (1 Tim 5:17) • Teacher of the Word of God (1 Tim 3:2) • Pastor (Acts 20:28/1 Peter 5:2) • Intercessor (James 5:14) • General oversight of ministry works (Acts 11:30) • Guardian of the truth (Titus 1:9)

  4. Elder Ordination Training: 3. Briefly Explain 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and James 5:14-15 Elder’s/Bishops are matured, Holy Spirit filled people who have been called by the Holy Spirit (Acts 20:28) having demonstrated special, yet, specific moral qualifications that enhance the work of Christ and the works of the ministry. They should not be beginners in the faith, but dedicated, committed, proven, and tested people of God.

  5. Elder Ordination Training: 1 Tim 3:1-7 Cont. They must be a person with a sound reputation and are beyond reproach, in and out of the church. They must also be well rounded in their home!

  6. Elder Ordination Training: James 5:14-15 They must be a known prayer warrior (intercessor) who are always available for fervent prayer and sound godly counsel.

  7. Elder Ordination Training: 4. What is the difference between an Elder, Bishop, and Pastor? Though the term is used interchangeably, Elder’s in most cases are Pastor’s/Bishop’s in the making. In most ministries where an Elder is not serving as overseer, they are given responsible duties.

  8. Elder Ordination Training: 5. What are the characteristics of an Elder? Saved. Holy Spirit Filled. Faithful. Honest. Demonstrated Life of integrity. Dependable. Knowledgeable of the Word of God. Doer of the Word of God

  9. Elder Ordination Training: 6. Identify eight (8) qualifications of an Elder? Blameless (Of integrity). Stable home life. Vigilant (Demonstrates self control). No striker (Not a bossy person, but firm). Not a brawler (Not a trouble maker). Gravity (One who is serious). Good report (Lives a life of integrity) Sober (Mentally, physically, and spiritually)

  10. Elder Ordination Training: 7. Define the “biblical term” Gospel? The life of Christ in that He was born of a virgin (by the name of Mary, he lived a sinless life, preached, taught and healed the sick). He died for my sins, and on the third day of His death, God raised Him from the dead (1 Cor 15:1-5).

  11. Elder Ordination Training: 8. Who is God? He is the Creator of the universe and all life. He is a Living Spirit that existed before anything else was in existence. He is the God above all god’s who have all power, knowledge, and exist in all places. The father of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior, and the Father of the Holy Spirit.

  12. Elder Ordination Training: 9. Who is Jesus? He is the only begotten Son of God. The Messiah of this world, the Savior of my soul. The Lamb of God whose life was sacrificed for my sins 10, Who is the Holy Spirit? He is a person of the Triune Godhead. The comforter, advocate, teacher, and operator of God in Spirit. 11. What was the ministry of Jesus? To preach, teach, and heal.

  13. Elder Ordination Training: 12. What are the two (most commonly known) ordinances of the church? 1 Cor 11:23-17-30, Matthew 26:26-29 and 28:19-20 Baptism and Communion (The Lord’s Supper) 13. What is the primary role of a deacon? To care for and minister to the people of God in specific area’s as outlined by the Pastor.

  14. Elder Ordination Training: 14. Explain the meaning of immersion within the realm of baptism? That a believer is fully immerged in water during the baptismal rite. Normally they are immerged in a prostrate manner, face up.

  15. Elder Ordination Training: 15. Explain the symbolism of baptism? It is symbolic of life, death, and a resurrection. It symbolizes that one has died from their old man and is risen in the newness of life in Christ Jesus.

  16. Elder Ordination Training: 16. Who can be baptized? Those who have confessed Christ as their Savior. 17. What is salvation and its significance? It is the grace of God given by faith to those who have received Christ as their Lord and Savior. It is significant to the fact that without it, one cannot receive eternal life in Christ.

  17. Elder Ordination Training: 18. Explain Romans 10:9-13? That who ever shall declare Christ as Lord and Savior will be saved from eternal damnation. Whereby, if one shall confess with their mouth and believe in their heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, they shall be saved.

  18. Elder Ordination Training: 19. Explain Romans 10:9-13? Cont. That anyone who is saved shall not be ashamed of their salvation. Salvation is for every one who believes without any form of prejudice and all who call upon His name (in faith) will find Him.

  19. Elder Ordination Training: 20. Can a believer lose their salvation? Explain. Only if they deny Christ as their Savior. Though one may become a backslider, as long as they remain in the same saving faith, their salvation shall also remain. Sin keeps one from the favor of God, and will affect their heavenly rewards, but their salvation is still valid.

  20. Elder Ordination Training: 21. Demonstrate the role of leading someone to Christ? Admit that you are a sinner (Rom 3:23) Believe that Christ came to die for our sins (Rom 5:6-8). Confess Christ as your Lord and Savior, confess and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead (Rom 10:9-13). Pray a prayer of repentance.

  21. Elder Ordination Training: 22. Describe your conception of the Holy Ghost? Explain what the experience was like when you were in-filled with the Holy Spirit.

  22. Elder Ordination Training: 23. Why is it important for one to be Holy Spirit filled? It is the very power that affects the work of God. It is profitable to teach, preach, heal, cast out, discern, and bring into fruition the very works of God. Without it, one is ineffective in ministry.

  23. Elder Ordination Training: 24. Explain biblical holiness? Being separated unto God and from all that is unclean. A life that is “spiritually and morally” clean and without worldly practices; specifically a lifestyle acceptable before the Lord. A righteous way of living in Christ, full of truth and high moral standards. • Gen 17:1, Lev 11: 44, Prov 22:1, Isa 26:2, 8-9, Isa 32:17 • Acts 24:16, Romans 12:1, 1 Cor 15:34, 2 Cor 6;14

  24. Elder Ordination Training: 25. Why should believers live a life of holiness? The Word of God tells us to “sanctify ourselves, therefore be holy, for I (God) am holy (Lev 11:44; 20:7). Living a life of holiness is requisite to my salvation and is reflective of the Christ in me, by whose blood I have been redeemed.

  25. Elder Ordination Training: 26. Explain Sanctification? To be set aside for the holy use of God. The life (of the believer) set apart by God for Himself; from all evil use, to be wholly used for Himself and His service. The evidence is when the believer has separated themselves from what is sinful and consecrated themselves to what is righteous.

  26. Elder Ordination Training: 27. What is the Anointing? People: It is the very presence of God upon a person that accompanies with it (his presence), power to function in ministry works. It is a method in which we receive the son-ship of God (Romans 8:14-16, Gal 4:4-7). It is a method in which God confirms men/women in the faith (Romans 8:14-16, 2 Cor 1:21-22).

  27. Elder Ordination Training: 28. What is the Anointing? It serves as an approval or a release from God to “effectively” operate for His glory. It is an attribute of the Holy Spirit. Ex: Christ was anointed to preach and heal (Luke 4:18).

  28. Elder Ordination Training: 29. What does Anointing Oil represent? As a sign or symbol of consecration for service (Ps 92:10). It is symbolic of the presence of God. 30. What is meant by the Kingdom of God (on earth)? It is where the Word of God and Christ both dwell richly in the heart of man. It is when one is in full obedience unto Christ.

  29. Elder Ordination Training: 31. Briefly define intercessor and the role of an intercessor? One who stands in or represents on behalf of another. Ex: Abraham/Gen 18:20-33 Friends/Mrk 2:1-5 Church members/Acts 12:1-5 Elder’s/James 5:14-15 Intercessor's serve as prayer warriors. They are given the task to seek the desires or needs of others through fervent prayer and meditation unto the Lord.

  30. Elder Ordination Training: 32. Do you believe in life after death? Explain. Yes. From the truth that lies within: John 3:16 1 Thes 4: 13-17, 5:8-10 1 John 2:24-25, 5:10-12

  31. Elder Ordination Training: 33. Explain the purpose of the “spiritual gifts ministry” given to the church (Ephesians 4:11-12). To grow into maturity saints of God (believers) to do ministry works in building the body of Christ. To aid in and sustain the development of the body of Christ to be one in faith, comprehending the full knowledge of Christ….bringing them into the standards of Christ perfection.

  32. Elder Ordination Training: 34. Explain the purpose of the spiritual gifts given to believers (Rom 12:6-8; 1 Cor 12:8-10). To be used by “matured” believers for the edification for those within the body of Christ. The gift’s are intended to edify the body of Christ, not to exalt the person who possess the gift. They are abilities that God gives believers in order that they may serve Him.

  33. Elder Ordination Training: 35. What is sound biblical doctrine? Healthy, wholesome teaching that brings “fruitfulness” in God for godly living. Teachings that aligns itself with the character and attributes of Christ and God. Solid, bible based teaching. Nothing of man’s tradition or philosophy.

  34. Elder Ordination Training: 36. Define Hermeneutics? An area of theology that outlines the rules instructing on how the Word of God is to be explained, interpreted, and understood. The discipline is a concentrated method in how to interpret the Scriptures…..more than the actual interpretation of the Scripture.

  35. Elder Ordination Training: 37. Define Exegesis? A detailed and critical study of the Word of God. Its comments are generally the interpretation of the Scriptures, with a focus deep within Christian faith. With exegesis, it is not what man say the Word of God is, it is what the Word of God say…..it is.

  36. Elder Ordination Training: 38. In what passage of Scripture will we find the initiation of Apostle Paul’s first missionary journey? Who launched him forward? Acts 13:1-4 The Holy Spirit. Acts 13:2 & 4

  37. Elder Ordination Training: 39. Apostle Paul was the official Apostle to the Gentiles, but served others as well? (Acts 9:15-16)

  38. Elder Ordination Training: 40. Define the role of an Apostle? One with a special message from God that always aligns itself with the Word and character of God. They are known (but not limited) to: Train, license, and ordain men/women in ministry. They are known to plant churches, establish policies inherent to church stability, oversee the operation of church ministries, and demonstrate spiritual gift’s throughout their ministry works.

  39. Elder Ordination Training: 41. Identify the Pastoral Letter’s. 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, and Titus.

  40. Elder Ordination Training: 42. What is the difference between a Prophet/Prophetess and the gift of prophecy? A Prophet/Prophetess is one who is inspired to preach and expound on the Word of God through study and at most times via divine revelation. They are known to preach (Not a new Word) but a profound Word of God that expresses a deeper revelation never known, received, or understood by the hearer prior to that time.

  41. Elder Ordination Training: 43. What is the difference between a Prophet/Prophetess and the gift of prophecy? They can make the Word of God come alive and vivid right before your heart and eyes. They will say what God has instructed them to say……not self.

  42. Elder Ordination Training: 44. What is the difference between a Prophet/Prophetess and the gift of prophecy? Cont. The gift of prophecy is where one will speak of things to come with pin-point accuracy. They can fore-tell of the things of God for the ministry and for an individual. They too will only say what God has caused them to say/see.

  43. Elder Ordination Training: 45. What are your convictions regarding church and state? The church is and should always be respected and separate from the law of man. No form of government or institutions should have any influence on the operation of what God has established. It is our valid duty to protect the church from any forms of scrutiny and evaluation. It is our constitutional rights to remain free from state and to do anything less is in itself a violation of our given rights.

  44. Elder Ordination Training: 46. What was the Protestant Reformation? The Protestant Reformation was a major 16th century European movement aimed initially at reforming the beliefs and practices of the Roman Catholic Church. Its religious aspects were supplemented by ambitious political rulers who wanted to extend their power and control at the expense of the Church. The Reformation ended the unity imposed by medieval Christianity and, in the eyes of many historians, signaled the beginning of the modern era.

  45. Elder Ordination Training: What was the Protestant Reformation? Cont. "In 1517, in one of the signal events of western history, Martin Luther, a German Augustinian monk, posted 95 theses on a church door in the university town of Wittenberg. Luther's propositions challenged some portions of Roman Catholic doctrine and a number of specific practices.

  46. Elder Ordination Training: What was the Protestant Reformation? Cont. "The movement quickly gained adherents in the German states, the Netherlands, Scandinavia, Scotland and portions of France. Support came from sincere religious reformers, while others manipulated the movement to gain control of valuable church property. "The term Protestant was not initially applied to the reformers, but later was used to describe all groups protesting Roman Catholic orthodoxy."

  47. Elder Ordination Training: What was the Protestant Reformation? Cont. As the hope of reforming the Roman church faded, the "protestants" were forced to separate from Roman Catholicism resulting in Lutheran churches in Germany, Scandinavia and some eastern European countries, the Reformed churches in Switzerland and the Netherlands, Presbyterian churches in Scotland, and the Anglican church in England, and other diverse elements all of which have evolved into the Protestant denominations of today.

  48. Elder Ordination Training: 47. What is a church? A congregation of baptized believers observing the ordinances of Christ, exercising the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in them by the Word of God. 48. Define the word church. Called out. The whole number of regenerated persons, specifically from Pentecost to the first resurrection. The entire body of those who are saved by their relationship to Christ.

  49. Elder Ordination Training: 49. What is the “now” vision given to the Church? Reaching through Evangelism, Teaching to Disciple in Christ. 50. From what passage of Scripture is the vision birthed from? Matthew 28:19-20

  50. Elder Ordination Training: 51. Explain the vision of the church? To evangelize through the Gospel of Jesus Christ unto those who are unsaved, un-churched and untaught. To teach them the things of Christ and the Word of God, thereby, making them disciples for Christ.
