Priority programme Private Sector & Development • Economic growth, and therefore investment is as prerequisite for development! • ADC seeks to improve the business environment and to strengthen the private sector of its focus countries. → Use of potential synergies between private businesses and official technical cooperation to benefit both enterprises and the local population

  5. Areas of Cooperation Launching of innovative technologies Qualification of local suppliers, quality control Strengthening entrepreneurial competence Qualification of employees, skilled staff and trainers Qualification in agricultural production, logistics, marketing/sales Information events, workshops Certification, social and ecological standards Privatization and operation of public facilities

  6. Criteria for Cooperation • Project partner makes a substantial financial contribution, usually in the form of an investment • Project generates additional benefits for the firm and the local population that would otherwise not be achieved by the company‘s core business • Project is in line with development policy goals and quality criteria • Sustainability: partner ensures that the commitment will be continued after the end of the project • Partners abide by national laws and international environmental and social standards • Avoidance of unfair competition

  7. Financial support of ADA • ADA supports Business and Development Partnerships through • Project costs: up to 50 % (max. 200.000 euros) • Feasibility studies: up to 50 % • Fact-finding missions to establish a business partnership Duration of project support: up to 3 years

Business Partnership: Passive House Technology and foundation of a wood cluster in Northern Montenegro Project partners: Wood Cluster Steiermark/ Vinzenz Harrer GmbHGoals:- Reduction of energy costs through the introduction of passiv house technology in timber construction - Preparation of a wood cluster in northern Montenegro and the positioning of the region Bjelasica and Komovi as a wood hightech region in MontenegroComponents: 1. Passiv house technology and know-how transfer 2. Preparation of a wood cluster → workshops, trainings

Business Partnership: Wood Cluster Steiermark/Vinzenz Harrer in Montenegro Impact: • Contribution to the reduction of energy costs • Distribution of passive house technology through two demonstration projects • Know-how transfer to local partners • Increased competitiveness of companies • Contribution to local added value Motivation of the private partner: • Experience in doing business in Montenegro • Improved cooperation of Austrian and Montenegrin companies through the creation of networks

Business Partnership: Wood Cluster Steiermark/Vinzenz Harrer in Montenegro Continuation of the project: Energy consulting and education in the region Kolasin in Northern Montenegro • Education of 15 - 30 local energy consultants and planers National park Biogradska Gora with refuge in passive house technology

Steps of cooperation Send us a brief outline of the project (business branch, purpose, problem, project idea, costs and contributions from each partner) ADC gives a first response Formulation of a detailed project concept in dialogue with ADA Submission to the award committee Elaboration of the contract and signing Project implementation,disbursement, monitoring
