STRATEGIC PLAN GOALS and MIGRANT EDUCATION PROGRAM The Migrant Education Program is aligned with Goal (1) - GRADUATION - Increase high school graduation rate, decrease high-school dropout rate, and increase post-secondary enrollment rate. Goal (5) - STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT - Improve the SAT, ACT, and achievement scores of Georgia students.

  4. What is the Migrant Education Program (MEP)? Title I, Part C - Migrant Education Program (MEP) is a federally funded program. The MEP is designed to support comprehensive educational programs for migrant children to help reduce the educational disruption and other problems that result from repeated moves.

  5. What is the definition of “migratory child”? is younger than 22; and has not graduated from high school or does not hold a high school equivalency certificate; and is a migrant agricultural worker or has a parent, spouse, or guardian who is a migrant agricultural worker; and has moved from one school district to another within the preceding 36 months in order to obtain (or seek) temporary or seasonal employment in qualifying agricultural work.

  7. MEP LEA FUNDING FORMULA Funding is allocated to LEAs based on four factors: Number of Migrant Children Needs of Migrant Children Priority for Services Availability of Other Funds

Your school system assured the Georgia Department of Education that (among others): It will dedicate sufficient program funding and resources to ensure the full and appropriate identification and recruitment (ID&R) of all children eligible for program support and services residing within your district, including pre-school children and out-of-school youth. All activities and services will address required activities and are supplementary and do not supplant existing state and locally funded activities and required services.
