Introduction to ZMSRedundancyServer configuration Single server ZMS ZMS Oracle SQL Oracle SQL Dual servers ZMS Oracle SQL ZMS application and database service may be installed on up to two different servers for redundancy
Introduction to ZMSRedundancySwitchover • Switchover is manual • ZMS provides a series of scripts facilitating the switchover • Switch • ZMS application servers • ZMS database servers • Both ZMS application and database servers • Only one ZMS application server can be active at a time
Introduction to ZMSRedundancyDatabase backup Oracle SQL Oracle SQL Oracle SQL Hot backup Creates a scheduled copy of the active (running) database Cold backup Creates a scheduled copy of the standby database Active cold backup Used when upgrading a ZMS server
Introduction to ZMSZMS client installationSystem requirements • Minimum system requirements • Hardware: 1x 800 MHz CPU • Disk space: 100 MB free • RAM: 512 MB • System software • Windows NT 4.0 (with Service Pack 5 or greater) • Windows 2000 (with Service pack 2 or greater) • Netscape, Internet Explorer or compatible web browser (only used for downloading the ZMS client)
Introduction to ZMSZMS client installationDNS setup • Make sure the hostname of the ZMS server resolves into the correct IP address • Use correct DNS setup (ask your network administrator) or modify /windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts • Verify using ping.exe zms-uk-int
Introduction to ZMSZMS client installationDownload client • Download client • Using the DNS name of the ZMS, access the servers web interface at http://zms_server_name:7001
Introduction to ZMSZMS client installationStart client • Download client • Left-click to download zms.exe and load_zms.cmd • Place the files in a directory on your PC • Place a shortcut on your desktop (optional) • Execute load_zms.cmd • The ZMS client will automatically compare the local version of software with the one available on the server, if there is a newer (of if this is a first time install) the software will be downloaded • Every ZMS server upgrade will automatically distribute new software to the client
