Key Club Meeting Highlights: September 30, 2011 - Get Involved!

On September 30, 2011, Key Clubbers gathered in large numbers to kick off an exciting year. We celebrated our awesome turnout of 300 attendees at our first meeting, engaged in community service activities, and shared details about upcoming events like DCON and various volunteer opportunities. Members learned about dues, handbooks, and tracking service hours. Join us to make a difference—through tree planting, playground building, and more!   2. Chant Hey Key Clubbers! How do you feel? We feel good – uhhh we feel so good! Uhh! Double it up – uhhh uhhh! Triple it up – uhhh uhhh! One long uhhh – uhhhhhhh! Rapper style – uhh uhh uhh uhh uhh! Toasty!!!

  3. Thank You! • To those who… • Were at our first meeting – we had 300 people here! One of the largest meetings ever! • Volunteered for HC Setup, Cleanup • Brought in cookies for HC • Helped at Glenridge this week • Helped organize the bookroom • Helped set up posters around school • Recycled last Friday

  4. Dues • $15 to the ASB cashier by October 14th • $12 to Kiwanis International • $1 to the Kiwanis Children’s Cancer Project • $2 to the Kentridge Key Club fund • Paying your dues is the only way you’ll receive your handbook and be an official member of Key Club • Pick up a handbook from the cashier when you pay - don’t forget!

  5. Handbooks • Keep your handbook with your during the year • Turn in at the end of each quarter • YOU are responsible for keeping track of your hours! • Officers handle recycling hours • Goal: 5 IN and 5 OUT hours • Incentives given to those who meet the requirements • No Double Dipping!

District Convention (DCON) • What is DCON? • Learn about Key Club on a district level, bond with new friends, elect the new District board, fancy dinner and attend the Governor’s Ball! • When is DCON? • March 30th to April 1st, 2012 • How much does it cost? • Around $200 • Many club fundraisers during the year – we want you all to go!

  11. United Way - Stapling Project • Thursday, October 6th • After school in Room B-5 • Forming an assembly line to staple paper into packets (we’ll make it fun, don’t worry) • At least 30 people needed • Contact Ryan Mann to sign up

Cedar River Project • Saturday, October 8th : 10 am – 2 pm • Planting Native Trees and Shrubs • King County Parks Cavanaugh Pond Natural Area, Renton • Saturday, October 15th : 10 am – 2 pm • Planting trees for the Cedar River • King County Parks Belmondo Reach Natural Area, Renton/Maple Valley Contact Kenneth Lam for more information (Cell: 206-852-2449)

  13. KaBOOM Playground Building • Wednesday, October 19th • 8 am to 2:30 pm • Field Trip! • Special event where volunteers spend the day building a playground at Tudor Square Park • Breakfast & Lunch provided • Contact Tracy Tran to sign up – she will send you the registration

  14. ReLeaf at Clark Lake Park • Saturday, October 8th • 9 am to noon • Spend the morning cleaning the park, planting trees, etc. • Great way to get OUT hours • Contact Tracy Tran for a registration form (due by October 5th)

  15. Henderson’s Helpers • We need at least 10 volunteers! • Tuesday, October 4th • Mrs. Henderson’s room, B-6 • Help organize, unbox, and alphabetize the books • Contact Ryan Mann to sign up

  16. Blood Drive • Monday, October 3rd • Sign up after the meeting • Last day to sign up • Must be 16 y/o and over110 lbs • Save 3 lives in the Kent area • Free cookies and juice! • Get out of class! • Want to be a runner? Contact Uma Trivede (first come, first serve)
