Outline of Project • Project created for English Language Learners for any grade • Learn basic school vocabulary to be able to communicate in the classroom • Project can be adapted for low level Kindergarten students or students with a learning disability • Created a generic template that can be changed for the needs of students or school • ELL School Tour

  3. Group Work • After taking the tour match ELL student with native English speaking student to read a decodable book. • With a native speaker make a podcast introducing themselves to the class. • Have ELL student collaborate with ELL teacher to write the introduction

  4. ISTE Standards 1.Creativity and Innovation   Students demonstrate creative thinking, construct knowledge, and develop innovative products and processes using technology. Students: a. apply existing knowledge to generate new ideas, products, or processes.

  5. NC Standard Course of Study • This applies to all grade levels (k-5) because we all get new students who do not speak English. In order to teach them the content we have to teach them the language first.

  6. WIDA English Language Standards English Language Proficiency Standards • English language learners communicate for Social and Instructional purposes within the school setting. • English language learners communicate information, ideas and concepts necessary for academic success in the content area of Language Arts. • English language learners communicate information, ideas and concepts necessary for academic success in the content area of Social Studies.
