What is ACQuipedia? • Centralized “knowledge gateway” for acquisition information • Encyclopedia of common acquisition topics and terms • Horizontally integrated across ACQuipedia articles • Highly integrated with existing learning assets • Tied to existing communities of practice • Supplements other gateways (DAG, JCIDS, IFC) • Tailored Web 2.0 “wiki concept” to support collaboration and knowledge development • Response to faculty demand • Constantly Expanding information and resources through “mass collaboration” • Accommodates Service/Agency “perspectives” in addition to “purple”

ACQuipedia Concept of Use ACQuipedia serves as a knowledge gateway – an encyclopedia to acquisition related topics • ACQuipedia articles reference Virtual Campus, AKSS, AAP, IFC, JCIDS, DAG, BPCh, Acker Library, Living Library content • Community libraries draw content from ACQuipedia pages • Courses reference ACC and ACQuipedia as source of content • Faculty could use ACQuipedia in the classroom as THE go to reference. Use of TriZenter provides quick access to course references, and “let’s find out” response to student questions Virtual Campus AKSS/AAP ACC IFC Templates ACQuipedia articles reside in Communities of Practice JCIDS DAG BPCh Acker Library Courses Community Libraries Living Library

Features/Benefits • Supports 852 objectives • Establishes a dynamic living encyclopedia – improves currency of information • Fosters collaborative approach • Owned and managed by the competency owners/SMEs • Focused on integration of learning assets across the PLM and horizontal integration of articles • Expandable topics to include “competencies” • All DAU faculty involved in sharing their knowledge of the topic and contributing quality learning assets

Article Format • Title –acquisition topic or term • Definition –taken from DAU glossary if available • General Info/Narrative –context, background and relationships, with links inside text to learning assets • Policies, Directives, Regulations, Laws • Guides, Handbooks, Templates, Examples, Tools • Communities of Practice • Training Resources • Related Articles –optimize horizontal integration to other ACQuipedia articles Integration with PLM Learning Assets Sample ACQuipedia Article

Concept of Ops • Prototype of the system will feature BCEFM and PM domain topics • Phase II to include content in all functional areas • Initial content created, updated, and maintained collaboratively by DAU subject matter experts with support from KPOs. • If and where appropriate expand content collaboration to OSD SMEs and community members • Articles will be tagged as belonging to one of the five functional areas: • BCEFM • Contracting • Engineering and Technology • Life Cycle Logistics • Program Management • Articles will be part of CD/PLD learning asset portfolios • Maximum ownership by individual faculty desired (LAMP)

Still to Do • Work on plan for article ownership and maintenance (CD, PLD, Competency Owner?) • Expand to other functional areas (targeting 120 articles) • Complete ACQuipedia Concept of Ops • Complete ACQuipedia front-end, add search capability • Establish EMTS code • Establish relationship to FCAR • Publicize ACQuipedia • Develop On-line tool for contributors, JIT support • Conduct System Usability testing

  11. Summary and Recommendation • Potentially one of the most powerful knowledge development tools yet by DAU, using the power of the faculty and leveraging DAU’s PLM assets • Targeting a minimum of 145 articles by Sep 08 launch, covering all functional areas • Recommend LCIC and Faculty continue to work with KM team to develop additional articles and long term CONOPS of oversight under LAMP
