Key Results This study: “Like-for-like” is always the more expensive offset design Removing “like-for-like” constraint would decrease the cost of offsets by 10-fold to 100-fold • Some equivalent vegetation is very expensive to offset Requiring offsets to support regional conservation priorities would increase the cost of offsets • Caribou ranges • Ecosystem representation in protected areas Requiring “like-for-like” would miss opportunities to support regional conservation priorities
