DANCE 2.0 Creative Expression Creating, Performing, and Participating in Dance Students apply choreographic principles,processes, and skills to create and communicate meaning through the improvisation, composition, and performance of dance. Communication of Meaning in Dance 2.5 Convey a wide range of feeling and expression through gestures, posture, and movement. LANGUAGE ARTS 2.0 Speaking Applications (Genres and Their Characteristics) 2.3 Deliver oral responses to literature: a. Summarize significant events and details. b. Articulate an understanding of several ideas or images communicated by the literary work. c. Use examples or textual evidence from the work to support conclusions. 3.0 Literary Response and Analysis Students read and respond to historically or culturally significant works of literature. They begin to find ways to clarify the ideas and make connections between literary works. 3.1 Identify and analyze the characteristics of poetry, drama, fiction, explain the appropriateness of the literary forms chosen by an author for a specific purpose. Criteria for performances (Rubric): • The characters and their feelings were clearly expressed through face and body. • The dance depicted the idea, “people helping people across a dangerous river”. • Each of the five movements was used. • The dance maintained slow motion – speed level one - throughout.

  8. Lesson Design Practice • Work in pairs • Use template if you wish. • 20 minutes to plan. • 20 minutes to practice. • 10 minutes to present ideas to group.
