Report on Japanese Activities

This report outlines key activities and initiatives of Hidenori Shinoda and the IHE-J workgroups aimed at enhancing interoperability in health information exchanges in Japan. Recent accomplishments include adapting JJ1017 to the IHE Technical Framework, developing HL7 standards for HIS-RIS connections, and addressing local privacy regulations. We now focus on IHE-J. • We formed several work groups: • WG1 : Adjustment of JJ1017 to IHE Technical Framework • WG2 : Development HL7 based standard for HIS-RIS connection • WG3 : Adapting to Japanese privacy rule • WG4 : SR • WG5 : LIS • WG6 : Harmonization of technical issues of IHE-J with IHE-International • WG7 : Connect-a-thon

  3. Some activities • Presentation at Modern Hospital Show • Submitted a CP toWG6 • Incorporated with other CP • Harmonizing descriptions with IHE Technical Framework • Usecase analysis of ordering to imaging department • Start discussions with Korea, Taiwan, and Singapore to form IHE-Asia

  4. Workflow development • Clinical team reviews typical workflows and tries to develop a new standard. • Joint meeting with JSRT and IHE-J technical team at Nagasaki • Discussion of the issue at JRS Kyushu meeting

  5. Raised issues • How do they convey comments from referring physicians to radiologists on where they focus when they read images? • Require reports that have descriptions of related comments. • They would send worklists from a RIS to modalities; detached and MWL, CP for detached, or push type of MWL?

  6. Schedule • IHE-J demo at JAMIA in November • Vendor workshop in November • Connect-a-thon in March, 2003 • 2nd year demo at JRC meeting
