Microsoft PowerPivot Office 2010 By FahadSiddiqui
PowerPivot • PowerPivot uses Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) • DAX formulas requires knowledge of • OLAP • Relation databases • DAX Permits user to create custom calculations
Advantages • Uses similar features from Excel such as • Office Fluent user interface, PivotTable and PivotChart views, and slicers • Processes million rows of data quickly • Works with SharePoint 2010 only. • Combine data from more sources.
Disadvantages • No BI built-in • KAPL wouldn’t use for SharePoint because it store password. • Users need to be familiar with DB terminologies and concepts • Learning curve • Not compatible with SharePoint 2003 & 2007
Summary • Office 2010, light weight provides good performance to PowerPivot • Gathers data from different source and can create relationships • Don’t need powerful PC to use PowerPivot • Data Model knowledge isn’t required to use the tool
