  1. Way of Working for Design Agencies GDA on Packaging Artwork 1

  2. GDA (Guideline Daily Amount) • Way of Working • This document describes in a step by step approach the way of working if you have been briefed to place GDA (guideline daily amount) tables and tombstones on packaging artwork or work on packaging artwork that already contains GDA information. This is in addition to all other requirements from the artwork manual as well as the GDA guidelines. • There are 3 scenario's where GDA plays a role in case of a packaging change: • A) Implementing GDA or modifications to GDA on packaging artwork. This is where you implement GDA for the first time or where you need to change the tier of the GDA table on an existing reference artwork (e.g. a promotion that needs a smaller GDA table due to more space needed on the back of pack for promotional texts). • B) Modifications to GDA packaging artwork, NOT affecting the GDA tier. These are the instances where you have an existing reference artwork as a basis that already contains GDA and where there is no need to change the GDA tier. • C)Modifications to GDA packaging artwork, NOT affecting the GDA tier. And NOTrequiring new artwork • Examples of these are legal text changes and packaging supplier changes. • Scenario C will not be applicable to you as it does not involve new artwork and therefore only scenario A and B will be described hereafter. • Please check with your activity owner which scenario you should follow.

  3. Scenario A - Implementing / Modifying GDA • This is where you implement GDA for the first time or where you need to change the tier of the GDA table on an existing reference artwork . • The next pages show a summary of the basic steps to follow. • These steps show the implementation of GDA for the first time. In case of a change of tier of an existing reference artwork, the same steps should be followed, I.e the existing legal texts need to be replaced with the correct dummy texts. • Before starting please make sure that you: • ...have been briefed thoroughly by the activity owner • ...have read and understand the GDA guidelines (also available from • http://guidelinesmaw.ds-n.com/maw/gda%20guidelines20100809.pdf • ...use the correct dummy legal text and follow the instructions on them(also available from http://guidelinesmaw.ds-n.com/ • ...have downloaded the illustrator versions from the correct tier(s) (also available from http://guidelinesmaw.ds-n.com/ • ...have modified all GDA colours as per instructions from your activity owner (please make sure that only already existing brand colours will be used). • ...make all GDA texts and other elements related to GDA, which will vary across the different packs in the same colour as the legal text in order to avoid more than one cylinder change.

  4. Scenario A-Step 1 • You get briefed and start working on new artwork

  5. Scenario A-Step 2 Note: these dummy texts represent an average amount of legal texts (+ 20% as a ‘safety net’). Therefore, there might be instances where more space for legal text is needed. If you work on a reference artwork, that clearly carries more legal text per language then foreseen on the dummy texts, please contact a member of the One Graphics team at Mars in Veghel. • Please place the correct dummy legal texts. • These are to estimate as accurately as possible the space needed for legal texts. Available from http://www.deschutterneroc.be/DSN%20resources/masterfoodstemplate.aspx- Please check with your Activity Owner on which dummy legal text to use.- If you work on a reference artwork that already carries legal texts, please replace it with the correct dummy legal text- Please follow instructions in dummy legal texts - Please make sure that the dummy legal texts are positioned in the correct place on the packaging. Therefore, please follow all instructions in the technical drawing and follow the current packaging as a guide to know which parts of the legal texts to place where.- Please place these dummy legal texts on a separate layer in the Illustrator file. 6. Scenario A-Step 3 • Please add energy tombstone and biggest possible GDA tier • Please make sure all GDA guidelines are followed • Also here, please place the dummy texts, which are in the GDA tables / tomb stones on the same separate layer (like the other dummy legal texts), in the Illustrator file. • Please do not place GDA information in the tracking path (see also Artwork Manual, chapter 1.2.3 and error code 9) Dummy dummy dummy Dummy dummy dummy Dummy dummy dummy Dummy dummy dummy Dummy dummy dummy Dummy dummy dummy Dummy dummy Dummy dummy dummy Dummy dummy dummy Dummy dummy dummy Dummy dummy dummy Dummy dummy dummy Dummy dummy dummy Dummy dummy GDA table Tomb stone

  7. Scenario A-Step 4 • Please communicate the used tier version in the artwork label, • specifying exactly the complete name of the GDA tier with no abbreviations, e.g. Single BOP Tier 2 Dummy dummy dummy Dummy dummy dummy Dummy dummy dummy Dummy dummy dummy Dummy dummy dummy Dummy dummy dummy Dummy dummy Dummy dummy dummy Dummy dummy dummy Dummy dummy dummy Dummy dummy dummy Dummy dummy dummy Dummy dummy dummy Dummy dummy Single BoP Tier 2

  8. Scenario A-Step 5 Please completed the checklist below to ensure the artwork is ready to be approved by the Activity owner / Marketeer • Have you followed the GDA Guidelines? • All information downloaded from DeSchutter’s website (GDA tiers & dummy legal text) has remained unaltered. There has been no condensing or reduction in font size and all instructions on the dummy text have been respected. • Does the artwork contain a FoP tombstone and BoP GDA table as required on the Consumption units/Serving sizes pages of the Guidelines? • Is the FoP tombstone placed in the bottom left hand corner of the packs, and clearly visible? The tombstone needs to be outside of any fold and crimpling area. • Does the GDA tier used in the artwork correspond to the full complete (not abbreviated) name of the tier in the artwork label? • Has the maximum possible table size been implemented?

  9. Scenario A-Step 6 • Please send artwork to GPC (after activity owner’s approval) • Artwork must be checked and approved by Activity Owner before sending • Artwork must comply with all requirements of Artwork Manual Dummy dummy dummy Dummy dummy dummy Dummy dummy dummy Dummy dummy dummy Dummy dummy dummy Dummy dummy dummy Dummy dummy Dummy dummy dummy Dummy dummy dummy Dummy dummy dummy Dummy dummy dummy Dummy dummy dummy Dummy dummy dummy Dummy dummy GPC After this, the dummy legal texts as well as all GDA texts will be replaced at the GPC Single, BoP, Tier 2

  10. Scenario BModifications to existing reference artworksthat do NOT affect the GDA tier • This is where you modify an existing reference artwork, which already contains GDA, • and where the GDA tier remains the same. • In this case you do not need to place new dummy legal texts- please leave the legal • texts as they are on the reference artwork. • In the next pages you will find a summary of the basic steps to follow.
