  2. DISCLAIMER • Ask for a previous sector report to look at as well if you prefer. This is merely just a guide to get started. You do not have to copy the format EXACTLY how I have presented it, however don’t exclude pertinent information (ex: economic data). The more comfortable you become with preparing the sector reports, craft them however you please. Feel free to seek help from fellow board members/members should any questions arise. The more sector reports you present, the more familiar with the terms and faster you will get at developing them! Good luck and have fun! 

Finance (my favorite) • Morningstar Investment Research Center (Library Database)http://stcloud.lib.mnscu.edu/subjects/databases.php?letter=M • The school pays for access to this. • Google Finance • MSN Finance • Reuters.com • Marketwatch.com • Fidelity (my favorite/best for sector information) • CNBC • Investopedia.com • This is the Investment Club Bible, Koran, what have you! This defines ANYTHING and can help you understand how anything financial works. • “Snipping Tool” (this is what it is called on PC’s, not entirely sure what Mac users possess) • This is programmed into your computer/laptop under the ‘programs’ tab and in the ‘Accessories’ folder. • This can be used to snip pictures on the screen and paste them into your report (graphs, measures, etc.) • Stock Screener (see slide 22 for a link to one) • Any others you can find

  7. Profile • Give a brief description of the sector. • What services/products does it provide? • What kinds of business are included in it? • Definition of sector.

  10. Industry Performance • “Industries in this Sector” tab  copy this graph here  highlight which industries have been performing exceptionally well. • Make note of our current holdings in the industries.

Economic Analysis • https://eresearch.fidelity.com/eresearch/markets_sectors/sectors/sectors_in_market.jhtml • Fidelity.com is a wealth of economic information. • “Economic Calendars” on left tab. • “Business Cycle” tab. • PDF files on the right side. • What is the sector outlook? • Industries outlook? • Interest rate risk, governmental decisions (ex: Fed Tapering), tax credits, big news, etc. • Any other searches via Yahoo/Google.

  22. **Recommended Stocks**(Very Important to Include) • Present the snapshot of any stocks you would like to recommend we take a look at/you found using the stock screener or your own knowledge. • Provide a profile of the stock you are recommending. • Provide a brief description as to why you want to take a look at these specific stocks. • Use this as a guide for your stock screening (http://www.google.com/finance?hl=en&ei=GCcTUbC_OcamrQHOGA#stockscreener) to find appealing companies within that industry. • Toy around with the stock screener and the criteria to get a feel for it if needed. • Morningstar Investment Research Center (Library Database)http://stcloud.lib.mnscu.edu/subjects/databases.php?letter=M • Stock screener under ‘Companies’ tab. • Fidelity  choose sector  “Find Investments” tab  “View all Results & Criteria” button in the middle of the screen • Screens stocks within a specific sector and has preset screens • Or you can choose profitable companies you already know of. • What is our target and current allocation?
