  2. Early Life • Born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. • His parents were Martin Luther King Sr. and Alberta Williams King. • Martin had a brother named Alfred, and a sister, Christine.

  3. Mid Years • Martin attended Morehouse College at age fifteen. • Graduated Morehouse in 1951. • Attended Boston University in September 1951.

  4. Later Years • Became a pastor of the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in 1954. • In 1963, Martin led the March on Washington and gave his speech “I Have A Dream” • Martin Luther King was assassinated in 1968.

  5. Awards and Legacy • Nobel Peace Prize-1964 • Presidential Medal of Freedom-1977 • Congressional Gold medal-2004 • Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial
