Effective January 1, 2013, significant changes have been made to hauling permits in Virginia. Key changes include the elimination of 1-4% overload permits, allowing only 5% overload permits for a fee of $250. Annual overweight permits now cost $280 for 2 years, and specific conditions apply to gravel, sand, or crushed stone permits. Additionally, new escort requirements for oversized vehicles have been established. The modifications aim to streamline regulations, ensuring clarity for haulers while addressing law enforcement concerns.
