MATERIALS NEEDED!! • A COMPOSITION NOTEBOOK – Interactive Journaling • PENCIL (LOTS OF THEM!) • RED PEN (FOR HOMEWORK CHECK ONLY) **Please keep in mind that supplies will need to be replenished throughout the year. If you lose your notebook or it runs out of paper, IT MUST BE REPLACED IMMEDIATELY!!!

  5. JOURNALS!! • JOURNALS WILL BE GRADED • JOURNALS WILL BE LEFT IN CLASS • JOURNALS MUST BE KEPT NICE & NEAT • JOURNALS WILL NOT HAVE PAGES TORN OUT

  6. Entering the Classroom • Be on time! • Enter the room QUIETLY and ready to work • Begin working on your Journal- GET SUPPLIES and GET TO WORK. • Follow directions at all times • Have all of your materials ready every day • Be respectful to others and their property • Follow all other school and district rules & policies

  7. CONVERSATION LEVELS • LEVEL 0 – SILENCE • LEVEL 1 – WHISPER • LEVEL 2 – SOFT CONVERSATION/HALLWAY • LEVEL 3 – SMALL GROUP • LEVEL 4 – OUTSIDE ONLY

  8. GRADES!! • YOUR GRADE WILL BE ESTABLISHED BY:-CLASSWORK & QUIZZES 50%-HOMEWORK 10%- TESTS & PROJECTS 40% You will get a progress report on the 3rd week of each 6-week period and report cards will go home at the end of each 6-week period.

  9. TUTORING! MY TUTORING DAYS/TIMES ARE: TUESDAYS & THURSDAYS 3:45 – 4:30 **YOU MUST ME MEET IN THE CAFETERIA AT 3:45 AND I WILL WALK YOU TO OUR CLASSROOM **IF YOU NEED TO COME ON A DIFFERENT DAY, PLEASE ASK IN ADVANCE!!!

  10. MATH TEAMS! • You will be working in teams in this class • I will place you in teams AFTER you have taken your pre-assessment • Teams will receive points for displaying positive behavior and participating

  11. TEAM GOALS! • PRACTICE ACTIVE LISTENING • HELP AND ENCOURAGE OTHERS • EVERYONE PARTICIPATES • EXPLAIN YOUR IDEAS/TELL WHY • COMPLETE TASKS

  12. Tardy • DO NOT DISRUPT THE CLASS! If you have an excuse, drop it in the basket, quickly sit down, and get to work. • If you do NOT have a written excuse, sign the TARDY LOG, sit down, and begin working.

  13. Tardy Policy Consequences of Tardies: 1st Tardy: Teacher Warning – documented by teacher 2ndTardy: Lunch detention – documented by teacher 3rd Tardy: Student receives lunch detention with parent contact 4th Tardy: Office Referral ( 1 Day ISS)

  14. Dress Code • Dress code will be checked everyday. If you are out of dress code it will be documented. • Being in dress code means you have your ID around your neck.

  15. Dress Code Consequences for Dress code Violations: 1stViolation: Teacher Warning – documented by teacher 2ndViolation: Lunch detention – documented by teacher 3rdViolation: Student receives lunch detention with parent contact 4thViolation: Office Referral ( 1 Day ISS)

  16. Discipline Plan First Time: Verbal Warning Second Time: Written Warning   Third Time: Call Home Fourth Time:Parent/Teacher conference at school Fifth Time: Office Referral- Include dates in which parents have been contacted and student has served detentions.

  17. Late Work • If you are absent please pick up your missed work from the tray. • Late work will is not acceptable. For every day the assignment is late 10 points will be deducted for a maximum of 30 points off. After three days it will not be accepted and will be counted as a 0.

  18. Restroom Breaks • You CANNOT go to the restroom the first or last 10 minutes of class. • If I am instructing OR giving directions, you will not be able to go to the restroom, so DON’T ASK.

  19. THE DO’S • You should be learning at all times. Take advantage of the class period to do work. • Be kind to everyone. • When asked a question by the teacher, you should respond “Yes ma’am or No ma’am”. Saying “What” is unacceptable! • Be respectful. This means treating people the way you want to be treated. • Help each other. There will come a time when you will need it. • Work as a team. This is not a competition, so share your knowledge with others. This shows that you are a leader. **If you fail to follow these procedures you will receive a consequence.

THE DON’TS • Don’t get out of your seat without raising your hand and asking permission. • Don’t blurt out answers, always raise your hand first. • Don’t interrupt someone if they are talking – that includes the teacher! • Don’t get up and throw away trash without asking. • Don’t throw trash in the trash can from your desk. • Don’t be a bully. It only shows just how scared you really are.**If you fail to follow these procedures you will receive a consequence.
