  2. Parts of a Sentence • The Subject: • Complete subject: all the words before the verb. • Simple subject: just the main thing or things that you are talking about in the sentence.

  3. EVERYBODY NOW!!!!! • Ex. 1 John and his pet kangaroo ate monkey brains. • What is the COMPLETE SUBJECT? • What is the SIMPLE SUBJECT? • Just for kicks, what is the verb and what kind of verb is it? • I’m waiting…………

  4. Hey are you still there??? • Why are you not writing the answers in your fancy red notebooks??? • C’mon jut think about it -it won’t hurt…I promise. • Okay, have you got it? • GOOD-let’s check it out…..

  5. Okay…who thinks they have the right answer? Let’s see… • The complete subject is all the words before the verb, so you have to know where the verb is. • In this sentence the verb is ATE and it is an ACTION verb. • So.. The complete subject is..JOHN AND HIS PET KANGAROO • The simple subject is just the exact words that tell us who or what we are talking about. • So..The simple subject is..JOHN. KANGAROO
