2. Zeus • Zeus was a god that was the king of the universe • He got his lightning bolts by helping out Cyclopes they were a gift from the Cyclopes • So Zeus used his lightning bolts to defeat his father Cronus and make himself king of the universe

3. Scylla • Scylla was a sea monster who lived on one side of a narrow channel, which was opposite of Charybdis. • Scylla was a disgusting monster with six necks and twelve feet. • Each head had three sets of teeth which she used to kill anyone who crossed her way.

4. Medusa • Medusa was a mortal woman until she was turned into a dragon- like monster- with snakes for hair! • Medusa’s face was really scary and horrible looking. • Anyone who looked at her face would immediately turn to stone.

5. Cerberus • Cerberus was a dog with three heads and a dragon’s type of tail. • He guarded the entrance to the underworld. • Cerberus allowed anyone into the underworld- but never let anyone out of the underworld!

6. Hydra • The Hydra was a monster with nine heads and bad smelling poisonous breath. • So as he chopped off each and every head, he burned the wounds with his torch, which prevented the new heads from growing in the old head’s places.

7. Chimera • The Chimera was a monster with the head of a lion, the tail of a dragon, and the body of a goat. • The Chimera could also breathe fire. • Bellerophon became a hero when he managed the almost impossible task of killing the Chimera.

8. Sphinx • The Sphinx was a monster with the body of a lion, the wings of a bird. • What is it that has four feet in the morning, two at noontime, and three at nighttime? • The answer to the riddle is man. • Man crawls on four legs as a baby, stands upright as an adult, and walks with a stick as an old man.

9. The Harpies • Could fly as fast as the wind, and their feathers were as hard and as strong as armor.

10. Minotaur • The Minotaur was a monster with the body of a man, and the head of a bull. • Theseus was a Greek hero who wanted to put an end to the killings of the humans.

11. Sirens • The Sirens were sea goddesses who had the heads of women and the bodies of birds.

12. Geryon • Hercules, as a punishment for a misdeed, was ordered to be the servant of his cousin, Eurystheus. • Eurystheus thought of twelve really dangerous tasks that Hercules had no choice but to perform.

13. Cyclopes • The Cyclopes were strange gigantic giants. Each Cyclopes had one huge eye in the middle of its forehead. • However, Cronus had a son, the famous god who was named Zeus. • Zeus used these gifts to ruin his father Cronus and then he made himself god of the universe.
