4. Private life • Curtis Jackson grew up in queens, in new york, Raised by his mother who died when he was 9 years OLD. • At the age of 12 years old he started to sell drugs and to carry a gun. He gotinto trouble and was put in prison. • He uses the nickname 50 Cent in reference to a New York Criminal called 50 cent. • HE BECAME a RAPperIN 1995.

5. career • In 1996 he met thesinger Jam Master Jay of run-dmcwho taught him to write music and sing songs. • In 1998 his first official appearance was on a song entitled “React” with the group onyx. • in 1999, creating more and more good singles, he was attacked and shot 9 times in the body and even in his left jaw and he had to spend 5 months in hospital. The wound to his jaw left him with a small slur in his voice • in the 2000s, he worked with the most famous rappers and even with michaeljackson ! Today hehas sold 31 millions albums.
