  1. Welcome Art Room Rules

  2. Mrs. Jones’s Goals: To have fun every day. To teach students how to make truly beautiful artworks and help them when they struggle. To make students Art Smart. To teach life skills and help students plan for their future.

  3. Why do we have these rules? All of my rules come from past problems I have seen in the classroom. Students can avoid issues with their classmates and teacher when they understand what is and is not acceptable in the classroom. Everyone has the right to feel safe in the classroom. No one wants to be bullied, teased, or as if their time is being wasted.

  4. Be in your assigned seat and ready to work when the bell rings. • Stay in your assigned seat and work. • Do not walk around the room, stand, or sit at other tables. #1 Reason students have conflicts.

  5. Keep your hands to yourself. • Don’t horse around, fool around, or play with your friends. • It’s all fun and games until someone gets hurt. • Don’t touch supplies, other people’s belongings, or other people. #2 Reason students have conflicts.

  6. Listen and stay seated when someone is speaking. Directions can be given much more quickly. This is common courtesy.

  7. Follow directions the first time they are given. Complete all directions and steps expected of you each class. We have a limited number of class days for each project. So, it is important to use class time wisely.

  8. Clean up your work area and do not leave out supplies or materials. This way no one else is sitting in your mess and you aren’t sitting in someone else's mess. Everyone can find the supplies that they need. Certain people will be responsible for getting out/returning supplies to assigned areas.

  9. Turn in assignments on time. Put your name, block, and class name on your assignments. If you need more time on an assignment see me before your work is due to make arrangements to stay after school Mondays or Wednesdays.

  10. Store your artwork properly in you assigned area, unless told otherwise by the teacher. • If you put your work away, then you know where it is. You will be able to find it when you come back to class.

  11. Treat everyone and their property with respect. Act appropriately with art materials and artwork. Do not throw anything, tear, draw on, spit on, step on, laugh at, hit or crumple any one’s art work…..including your own! All of you are an original person. Don’t judge others, learn to see their capabilities!

  12. Consequences for breaking rules: First Offense: Receive a verbal warning Second Offense: Name on Board/Begin Recording Infractions Third Offense: Detention/Call Home/Write up an action plan Forth Offense: Sent to Dean/ Call Home/Write up an action plan Fifth Offense: Referral/ Sent to Dean/ Call Home/Write up an action plan

  13. It’s your choice! Make this the kind of place you love to come to. Enjoy making new things that amaze your friends and relatives. Learn the life skills of being tolerant, kind, and respectful.
