  1. How to get hold of full text articles You have retrieved references on databases, Google Scholar etc, but have access to the abstract only, what now? Compiled by Elsa Coertze 2010

  2. Step 1 Check whether we subscribe to the electronic version of the JOURNAL TITLE mentioned in the reference.

  3. Can’t find the title on the list? We do not subscribe to the e-version!

  4. Step 2 Select Select Put in journal title Check whether we subscribe to the hard copy of the JOURNAL TITLE mentioned in the reference.

  5. We do not subscribe to this journal!

  6. Step 3 Determine whether the journal is available from another library in South Africa by using Sabinet database If it is available, you may do an interlending request You must be registered as an interlibrary user Register either online: http://www.library.up.ac.za/interlending/onlineregister.htm or, on level 5 of Merensky library

  8. Click here

  9. Select SACat

  10. Select Put in the journal title

  11. Click on the correct title

  12. If you are registered, select Request It is available because the Univ. of Stellenbosch subscribes to it

  13. Put in your user- ID and password correctly, and submit

  14. Your personal details will be displayed Scroll down

  15. Put in the date: not less than 7 days of requesting Select Scroll down to the bottom of the page

  16. Put in the bibliographic details of the specific article

  17. Step 4 If the article is received in hard copy, you will be notified that you may collect it on Level 5 If the article is received electronically, it will be forwarded to you.

  18. Step 5 If the journal title was not found on Sabinet, it means that no library in South Africa subscribes to that journal. If you are a master or doctoral student, you may contact the Interlending section on Level 5 to ask to request the article for you from an international library (012 ) 420 3229 If you encounter any problems, ask you information specialist for assistance
