  2. Automation • Automation is the process in which robots do human jobs for us.

  3. History Automation dates back to the time of the Greeks. The Greeks used torches to open the temple doors, The person that was credited to creating this device was Hero [ or pronounced Heron} of Alexandria. During the industrial revolution automation was used more. An example of one of the devices is the Jacquard loom.

  5. Types of automation There are two types of automation. The two types are open-looped and closed-looped automation. An open-looped device is a machine that goes through a cycle and stops, an example is a washing machine. The other type or a closed-looped device is a machine that react to a order that is given to it during it’s process ,an example is a letter-opening machine. If you think a mechanized robot is automated

  6. How automation works A closed looped device uses sensors to get information on it’s operation. Then after the machine gets the information from the sensors it changes it’s method of doing that operation. These devices have an input and a output. A input for a device is what the operator wants the device to do, and the output is what the device actually does, so think about your life, the input you have is like your mother tells you to do something, you not doing it is a bad output. You might be thinking how might you change these bad outputs, well an automated device has a comparator which compares the input and the output and tells the device if there are major differences so the device can change it’s method. To decide to change it’s output an automated device has a controller, the controller is usually a computer.
