  8. Considerations for Determining REs’ Path in Year 3 • Employing Districts and or school determine REs readiness to take RESA. • REs’ progress holistically. • Take local consideration into account to determine the support needs of REs.

Part II: Supporting Year 3 Resident Educators NOTTaking RESA • Resident Educators not participating in RESA in Year 3 must have an assigned trained mentor. • Mentors will follow a Year 3 Best Practices timeline (similar to Year 2) to support their REs who do not participate in RESA in Year 3. • Different mentoring models may be used throughout the year.

  12. Considerations for Choosing a Mentoring Model • Mentors can vary from Year 2 to Year 3, as long as they are state-certified • Data should be used to help identify school or district conditions necessary for professional development

  13. Part III: Supporting Resident Educators Taking RESA • REs taking RESA in Year 3 must have an assigned state-trained facilitator. • The role of the facilitator will be to help REs prepare for the REs by guiding the REs

  14. Considerations for Selecting a RESA Facilitator Holds a professional educator license Understands the Resident Educator Program Uses facilitation and questioning strategies

  15. Expectations for a RESA Facilitator Completes online facilitation training Understands the RESA Provides REs facilitative support per RESA training

  16. Ratio of Facilitators to Resident Educators • The facilitators’ role is to provide guidance; therefore one-to-one facilitation is not required. • Districts and schools may assign one facilitator to up to 10 Resident Educators.

  19. Preparation for RESA • In Years 1 and 2 REs were engaged in tools and processes with their mentors to prepare them for the RESA. • The Year 2 Formative Progress Review was designed to simulate the processes of the RESA. • RESA Year 3 Timeline of Best Practices.

  20. Passing RESA • Resident Educators who pass all parts of RESA in Year 3 will be registered the following year as Year 4 Resident Educators.
