  2. Valentine´s day • February is the shortest month in the year. The day that everyone knows in February is Valentine´s Day. For many people February is therefore called ,,the month of love“.

  3. It is the fourteenth day in the month. It was named after two early Italian saints. But it is special for many of us because we send card and perhaps a present to the person we love. Valentine´s presents are the plush toys, the honey cakes in figure of heart, a red rose, a dessert... .

  4. But the card and gift should be send anonymously that means we don´t write our name on the gift or card. So the name of the person who send the card remains a secret. That is the tradition.

  5. Halloween • At the end of October people in different countries celebrate Halloween. It is cele brated on the thirty- first October in night. It is a typical autumn holiday. It is celebrated in America and other English speaking countries.

  6. It is festivalof ghosts and witches. It is very popular with children. They wear costumes of witches, ghosts and monsters. They go from house to house and say ,,Trick or treat“. People give them sweets and money. We can see pumpkins erywhere. People carve faces into them and put candles inside. They are then called Jack-o- Lanterns. Along time ago people believed that on Halloween dead people come back.

  7. They were very afraid and didn´t leave their houses. Today it is a festival of fun. Original title is Halloween (pod večer všetkých svätých). Traditional signs of Halloween are the pumpkins with candles, the witches, the ghosts, a fire, the monsters, a lanterns, spiders, bats, pirates and various ghostly costumes.

  8. Christmas • It is that time of year again when we often eat too much, some drink too much and many spend too much. It is Christmas. It is the time when we should remember the birth of Jesus Christ in Bethlehem. We buy presents for those we love.

  9. We meet with family members that we perhaps don´t see too often. In the time Christmas students don´t go to school but people work in the emergency services – policemen, firemen and sanitary personnel. Some things are the same as we have others we don´t use. Probably the most typical symbol of Christmas is the Christmas tree which is the rich because it is decorated with the sweets and the decoration and wonderful shine.

  10. Today many people pre fer artificial Christmas trees. People decorated their homes and garden. ´´Official´´ colours of Christmas are red and green. In eachstatethe Christmas is celebrated differently. A symbol of the American Christmas is good fat Santa Claus in red dress and with wonderful white beard. He smiles always.

  11. He has assistants - reindeers and elfs. Presents are unwrap instantly in the morning on twenty-fifth December. Everybody comes to tree still in pyjamas and arehappywith the presents. Instead of carp they have a turkey or hen, a goose, a duck, a ham splashed the red bilberry sauce and rich choice of desserts.
