  4. Fuel Tank Description • As your car or trucks fuel tank ages, it becomes that much more important to make regular inspection of its condition a part of your usual maintenance routine. While, obviously, an accident or other driving mishap in which your gas tank takes a direct hit can lead to the need to replace it due to fuel leakage, it is far more common to have to change your fuel tank because of leaking caused by corrosion. While the rust resistant coating that your fuel tank came with is able to offer protection for a good long time, it cannot do it forever.

  5. Theory of operation of Gear Pump • As the gears rotate they separate on the intake side of the pump, creating a void and suction which is filled by fluid. The fluid is carried by the gears to the discharge side of the pump, where the meshing of the gears displaces the fluid. The mechanical clearances are small—on the order of a thousandth of an inch (micrometers). The tight clearances, along with the speed of rotation, effectively prevent the fluid from leaking backwards. • The rigid design of the gears and housing allow for very high pressures and the ability to pump highly viscous fluids.

  7. Fuel filter • A Fuel filter which is placed within the fuel pipes or hoses coming from the Fuel tank or Fuel pump. It is made of pleated paper or nylon mesh and encased in a transparent plastic or glass housing. To install it, a segment of the fuel line is cut and removed. The filter is inserted to replace the removed segment of the fuel line.

  9. Oil filter • The oil filter used to the remove a segment of the fuel and change the oil of colour.

  10. Problem of the Oil Filter • high temperature • Increase the noise in the engine

  11. Injector Operation • Injectors include a precision-ground needle valve and are controlled by an electro-magnetic solenoid that is turned on and off by an electric control unit. Fuel is injected only during the "on" time and is metered by the size of the opening, duration of "on" time, and fuel pressure.
