  2. William Shakespeare Shakespeare was a respected poet and playwright in his own day. His reputation grew to what it is today during the 19th century. In the 20th century, Shakespeare's work was rediscovered by new movements in performance. His plays are still very popular today and are studied, and performed, in cultural and political contexts throughout the world.

  3. His work William Shakespeare’s work consists of 39 plays, including a few collaborations with other playwrights.

  9. Publication of Shakespeare's Plays Our modern life and culture is filled with the words from William Shakespeare For example: Hamlet’s “To be, or not to be,” He apparently even created some words, such as: “boisterous” “cudgel” “peevish.”

  10. Shakespeare's Sonnets Shakespeare also wrote many sonnets in his time. Whether or not they were meant to be published is unknown. The 154 sonnets were published in 1609. Shakespeare’s famous sonnets include: The Young Man The Dark lady
