  1. Wealth Management And Investment Advisor The term 'wealth management' encompasses a wide variety of disciplines and methods for managing resources. The key difference between a wealth management advisor and a financial adviser is that an advisor manages assets in order to earn a profit; while a financial adviser is typically hired by an individual investor to advise them on how best to manage their assets. In addition to the differences between these two types of advisors, there is also a difference between certified financial planners and a Certified Master Financial Planner. The definitions of wealth management and financial advice are very broad. A certified financial advisor or CMFP is a licensed professional who has met rigorous educational and continuing education requirements and who is recognized in the field of personal financial management. This designation, along with his or her education and training, is determined by the state licensing board. The scope of practice of this individual must include a variety of duties including advising individuals and families on how best to manage their finances. The types of individuals that a CMAFP can recommend for investing in a variety of assets is determined by his or her experience and knowledge.

  2. Certified Financial Planner (CFP) status is awarded by financial institutions upon completion of a minimum of two years of study at an accredited institution. The minimum study period required for a CMFP is three years; however, many institutions require additional training before granting this designation. The requirements for becoming a CMAFP are similar to those required of a CMFP but the training required is often more intense. The designation of Master Financial Planner (MFP) is obtained when an individual has achieved at least three years of training at an accredited institution and has been professionally certified. The Master Financial Planner is in charge of the management of a company's investments, which includes creating investment policies and plans, is supervising the implementation of those policies and plans, and is overseeing the allocation and distribution of income and assets among company employees. Master Financial Planner status requires one to have a bachelor's degree in accountancy, investment management, public finance, or banking and business administration; two to three years of experience as a business manager or financial advisor; and at least seven years of experience working as an investment advisor or financial planner in various capacities. The CMFP designation is awarded by the National Foundation for Credit Counseling Education; however, it does not require such a rigorous training or education. as do other CMAPs.
