  3. Math Curriculum Numbers: Recognition and Counting Shapes Patterns and Lines Geometry and Spatial Sense Matching Measurement Simple Addition and Subtraction Estimation

  4. Science Investigators • Observe • Investigate • Draw Conclusions • Inquire • Explore

  5. Listening Comprehension Listening with increased attention Follow simple directions Engage in conversations with others Listen for different purposes (ex. Learn what happened in a story, predict, recall and receive instructions)

  6. Oral Language Development Show a steady increase in listening and speaking vocabulary Use new vocabulary in everyday communication Ask questions related to current topic of discussion

  7. Letter Knowledge/Alphabet Focus Begin to associate the names and sounds of letters with their shapes

  8. Phonological Awareness Identify rhymes and rhyming sounds Recognize/Identify beginning sounds Begin to make some letter/sound matches

  9. Print and Book Awareness Recognize labels, signs and other print forms in the environment Understand that reading and writing are ways to obtain knowledge, generate and communicate thoughts, ideas and solve problems Understand that illustrations carry meaning but cannot read

  10. Motivation to Read Demonstrate an interest in books and reading through body language and facial expressions Enjoy listening to and discussing storybooks and information books read aloud

  11. Written Expression Begin to dictate words, phrases, and sentences to an adult recording on paper Attempt to connect the sounds in a word with their letter forms Understand that writing is used to communicate ideas and information To use known letters and approximations of letters to represent written language

  12. Developing Knowledge of Literary Forms Imitate the special language in storybooks and story dialogue and use it in retellings and dramatic play Ask questions and make comments about the information and events from books Become increasingly familiar with narrative form and its elements by identifying characters and predicting events, plot, and the resolution of the story Connect information and events in books to real-life experiences Begin to retell some sequences of events in stories

  13. Discipline Students will be asked to correct their behavior (“Use their words, not their hands”, “Talk it out”.) Students will be given an opportunity to think about their choices if they have difficulty following class expectations. Behaviors that warrant a “time out”: pushing, hitting, using materials inappropriately, etc.

  14. Daily Schedule-AM • 8:00-8:25 Table Top Activities • 8:25-8:35 Circle Time • 8:40-9:30 Centers • 9:30-9:40 Bathroom Break (students are also allowed to use our bathroom throughout the day if they need to go) • 9:45-9:55 Snack • 9:55-10:10 Outdoor Play (once the weather gets cooler) • 10:10-10:25 Music & Movement/Story-time • 10:25-10:30 Pack up/Dismissal
