  2. 12:37 -- Gun shots reported- Coliseum Parking lot. Stay Inside. Secure doors. Emergency personnel responding. Call 911 for help. 12:47 -- Suspect described as white male, gray sweat pants, gray hat w/neon green brim, maroon hoodie and backpack. On foot towards McComas. Call 911 13:11 -- A police officer has been shot. A potential second victim is reported at the Cage lot. Stay indoors. Secure in place. 14:25 -- Reports of recent sounds ID'd as gunshots and suspicious activity on campus have been investigated and are unfounded. Stay where you are 15:08 -- There are no new substantiated reports of suspicious or ciminial activity. Status of the shooter remains unknown. 16:29 -- Law enforcement agencies have determined there is no longer an active threat or need to secure in place. URI also just tweeted, below, that the afternoon's events are definitely not a drill, and that no injuries have been reported.

  11. Improper Use of Social Media??? The Providence Journal created a “Twitter map” of tweets by people giving information about the lockdown on the URI Kingston campus. The map uses search terms including “lockdown” or “gun” or “shoot” or “shooter”.
