  5. The verb: The verb without conjugation is called infinitive to eat----comer The verbs have different simple tenses:eat/eats: present tenseate: past tenseeaten: present participleand many other. A sentence always have at least one conjugated verb. Usually the second verb is “infinitive.”

There are three endings for regular and irregular verbs: -AR----------hablar to talk -ER----------comer to eat -IR----------vivir to live Verbs are regular when the stem does not change: Hablar: hablo, hablas, habla, hablamos, hablan The regular “AR” verbs are going to be used in this lesson. They are irregular when the stem changes: Cerrar: cierro, cierras, cierra, cerramos, cierran (to close)

  8. Every verb has 2 parts: Hablar = habl- Practicar = practi- Estudiar = estudi- Trabajar = trabaj- Necesitar = necesit- STEM + ENDING Mirar = mir- Escuchar = escuch- Preguntar = pregunt- Tomar = tom- Comprar = compr- + AR

  9. To form the present tense: Verb endings YO -o TÚ -as ÉL ELLA –a UD. NOSOTROS(AS) -amos ÉL ELLA–an UD.
