TFN Status 8/2004 • Turn-up Targets • TFN Optical layer scheduled for completion September 2004, Routing layer scheduled for completion by October, 2004. • All universities and colleges will be on the TFN backbone during the fall term • All 15 research universities and medical schools will have Gigabit connections by fall term to the TFN

TFN Status 8/2004 • Turn-up Targets • All other Colleges and Universities connectivity will depend on the last mile option selected to the TFN • Lambda provisioned for SchoolNet, awaiting funding recent budget cuts have delayed implementation of SchoolNet’s configuration and equipment order (Sites will be turned up during the 2004-2005 school year)

  8. TFN Status 8/2004 • Last Mile Connections • RFP Completed • 124 college and university sites bid • 30 Schoolnet sites bid • Currently working with vendor’s to develop contracts on an as needed basis • Result: lower last mile costs for most schools and bandwidth enhanced 5 to 8 times
