  6. What is Eco-Tourism? • It is a form of tourism which is environmentally friendly. • Eco-tourism projects in our area are: • introducing more cycle paths • Airlines such as EasyJet bring people to The North East (Newcastle) by introducing emission reduction projects.

  7. What are the benefits of Eco-Tourism? • Ecotourism helps to: • Educate the traveller • Provides funds for conservation • Directly benefits the economic development of local communities

  8. Organic Food • Organic food is a product of eco-tourism used in • restaurants • supermarkets • tourist attractions • All in the North East. • Northumbria Larder is the North East's prime source of regional Fine Food and Drink.

  9. Northumbria larder Northumbria Larder was set up in 2001 following the foot and mouth outbreak. This threatened the livelihoods of farmers, food producers and suppliers.

  10. Tourism Marketing-The One North East Regional Campaign The aim of the campaign: The whole region working together to show the rest of the world what we have to offer.

  11. Marketing campaign The aim of the campaign is to make the most of the One North East Tourism Regional Campaign and adapt the ‘Passionate’ logo for our purpose – see below. This logo will be used in all our advertising and packaging

Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) • The Northumberland Coast was designated in 1958 • Covers 39 miles • Best known for its sweeping sandy beaches, rolling dunes, high rocky cliffs dramatic castles and isolated islands. • Landscape is the evidence of an area steeped in history. • 7000 years of human activity

SEA(Strategic Environmental Assessment) • To conserve and enhance the landscape and seascape • To safeguard habitats • To preserve and enhance sites, • To safeguard the environmental quality of land, air and water resources through the use of sustainable practices • To minimise waste and through re-use, re-cycling and recovery reduce the use of landfill • To reduce greenhouse gas emissions and encourage sustainable forms of energy production • To promote sustainable flood risk management • To safeguard human health
