  2. Battlefield of the MindJoyce Meyers • “Even though my thinking was very wrong and was causing me a lot of problems, I did not know that there was anything wrong with what I was thinking. I did not know I could do anything about my thought life. I was a believer for years but I had no teaching at all about my thought life or about the proper condition for a believer’s mind to being. Our minds are not born again with the New Birth experience – they have to be renewed. (Romans 12:2) pg 67-68

  3. The Mind/Spirit Connection • Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; Romans 8:5-7 • But we have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:10-16 • So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. Galatians 5:16

  7. Although average Dendrite is a fraction of a millimeter in size, if you lined up all the dendrites in your brain the line would circle the globe 5 times! Your brain is composed of 10 billion neurons, communicating with one another through 10 trillion synaptic connections.

  8. Brain operation • When you are thinking about something, your brain processes 100 million bits of info per second, deletes 98% as irrelevant, filters 2 million bits and presents your conscious mind with only 5-9 pieces of information per second deemed most relevant. • Different parts of the brain perform different functions. For example, memories are stored in certain sections. • When you remember an experience you activate the same network of neurons activated by the original experience when your interpretation of the event was stored.

  9. Scream, jump up and down. Terrified of insects.

  10. Doreen’s brother puts a jar of grass hoppers down her back when she is asleep. She wakes up panicked, screaming, jumping, trying to get rid of the insects. Feels like she’ll die from spider bites! Entomophobia. All the feelings of the original incident upon seeing an insect. Fear of dying.

When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies” John 8:44 • “We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one.” 1 John 5:19 • “in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes.” 2 Corinthians 2:11 • “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.” Ephesians 6:10-12 • “Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith” 1 Peter 5:8-9 • “but deliver us from the evil one.” Matthew 6:13
