  2. Committee Structure • Nine curriculum committees • University Senate Curriculum Committee • Eight College Committees: Business, Communication, Education, Engineering, Fine and Performing Arts, LAS: Humanities, LAS: Social/Behavioral Science, LAS: Math/Science

  3. Goals of Curriculum Sponsors • Explanation of the effect of proposal • Promotion/Need • Relationship of the proposal to the goals, resources, and activities of Rowan University

  4. The Three Processes • Process A- new courses and minor proposals • Non Gen-Ed • No more than 2 changes • Process B • Anything related to Gen-Ed - no matter how little • Process C • Major changes to course or program requirements • Three or more changes

  5. All proposals impacting General Education New Gen Ed Courses New and Existing Courses requesting Gen Ed Designations (WI, LIT, M/G, LAB) Proposal is reviewed by University Senate Curriculum Committee Announced to University Senate Process B

Non-General Education Courses 1-2 Changes in a Program Changes in an Existing Non-Gen Ed Course 1-2 Changes in Degree/Program Requirements Proposal is reviewed by appropriate College Curriculum Committee Reviewed by Chair of University Curriculum Committee Announced to University Senate Process A

New Degree Programs New Majors, Minors, Specializations, Concentrations 3 or more Changes to an Existing Program Name Changes (College, School, Department, Degree) Quasi-Curricular Proposals Proposal is reviewed by College Curriculum Committee (Closed) Proposal is reviewed by University Curriculum Committee (Open) Reviewed by Chair of University Curriculum Committee Discussed and Voted on by University Senate Process C

  11. State-Wide Program Announcements Coordinated through Dean and Provost Approval of Board Of Trustees to develop Proposal C …THEN Proposal C Process BEGINS Applies to all proposals resulting in a new degree program New Majors Undergraduate and Graduate New Degree Programs

Responsibilities of Proposal Sponsors • Written Proposal • Approval (as evidenced by signatures) of Department (Department Chair) and College (Dean) PRIOR TO SUBMISSION • Library Resources Consultation • Collection of Appropriate Consultation Letters • Submission of proposal in required formats • Attendance at Open Hearing

  13. Deadlines for 2009-2010 October 15, 2009 for FALL 2010 implementation. February 18, 2010 for SPRING 2011 implementation.

  14. Submission Requirements • One Complete Original • Cover page with three signatures • Library resource form if applicable
