EASA Pp 037_02: Changes from Previous Version. • Contains revised JAA TGL 13 Revision 1 (referred to as JAA TGL Revision 2 dated 14th June 2005) Changes to JAA TGL Revision 2 (dated 14th June 2005) • Transmit only ELS parameters if possible – otherwise additional parameters should meet EASA NPA 20-12a. • Change references from JAA to EASA , JAR to CS and JTSO to ETSO throughout the document.
EASA Changes to JAA TGL Rev 2 (dated 14th June 2005) - continued • Change in definition of ‘Cruising True Airspeed’ • Crew Operating instructions needs to be expanded to explain how to enter Aircraft Identification (Flt Id). • Extended squitter may be enabled if the transponder meets ED 73B or ICAO Annex 10 Amdt 77 (or later) with respect to extended squitter. • ELS is required for helicopters (they don’t require to install EHS). • Future aircraft architectures should take into account higher levels of failure condition categories. • A table or annex giving guidance on the classification (minor or major change) of ELS and EHS modifications for operators of aircraft within JAA/EASA countries is to be included.
EASA Changes to JAA TGL Rev 2 (dated 14th June 2005) - continued • An Aircraft Flight Manual Supplement (AFMS), Pilot’s Operating Handbook Supplement (POHS) or Operation Manual will be included to provide the pilot with an awareness that the aircraft has Mode S Elementary Surveillance capability. • A note should be added to state that those aircraft that do not have a weight on wheels (WOW) switch or do not have a transponder control panel with an integrated ground/air switch should wire the transponder, permanently, to ‘in air’ . • Guidance on MMEL/MEL for operators. • More detail on ground testing of Mode S Elementary Surveillance.
EASA Pp 037_02: Timescales: • Sent to CNS ATM Steering Group Members week 24 • KMH review comments and update if necessary – week 28? • Send to EASA for inclusion for processing – Week 29? • EASA process – including public comments and issue as AMC 20 update (week tbd).
