  1. Bob’s meltdown Group D Jo TAI, Ruby MA, Ryan SUEN and Vicky CHAN

  2. General Comments I think that senior management should • 1. be aware of the important and benefit of KM • 2. encourage communication with each other to understand the company’s culture, and the vision and mission of KM • 3. establish a clear vision and mission of KM with KM experts • 4. change the company’s culture. It may need time andaffect higher level to lower level staff. But it is worthwhile. • 5. provide reward system to motivate all staff to take part in.

  3. General Comments (Con’t) • Five elements related to introducing KM in an organisation

  4. Comments on Group A • On Group A: • Group A’s suggestion: More prominent leadership to set the company vision and communicate loudly • Sacrifice revenue to support KM • To establish a ‘Culture’ policy • Staff seminar on KM • Higher transparency to let people know what each other is doing

  5. Comments on Group A (Con’t) • Agree with Better leadership: • Important when changing company’s direction • harmonize personnel and resource matters to enable the change smoothly

  6. Comments on Group A (Con’t) • Agree with Staff Seminar on KM: • Let staff knows what KM is and how it works • Agree with higher transparency: • More communication and understanding among different sections

  7. Comments on Group A (Con’t) • Slight different views on Sacrificing the revenue to support KM: • Good KM strategy: integrate KM to daily routine without major disruption on the core business • Should add value to company in the long term

  8. Comments on Group A (Con’t) • Slight different views on establishing culture policy: • Culture needs to be nurtured and cannot be set up like a ‘policy’ • Establishing Policy vs Establishing Vision

  9. Comments on Group A (Con’t) • Additional comments: • How to resolve the conflict between Annette and Bob?

  10. Comments on Group C • Suggestion of group C: • arrange a meeting with Annette, Bob, and also other section heads (for communication and mediation). • Create a culture of sharing • Top management should lead

  11. Comments on Group C (Con’t) • Agree. • But Jay the CEO should have a stance first. • Issues should be taken into account: the objective of introducing KM, company’s culture, company’s priority (revenue vs KM) etc.

  12. Comments on Group C (Con’t) • Additional comments. • Who should lead? • Top-down vs. Button-up vs Middle-top-down approach?

  13. Comments on Group E • Totally agree. • KM is process, not purpose • KM is not all about technology • Incentive for creating a sharing culture • Error is not really failure – learn from it!
