  2. Fun Facts • The computer was invented by many people. • Each part of a computer can be considered as a separate invention. • Computer has 5 parts.

  3. Input The input contains all the information the computer requires.

  4. Output The output delivers all the results of the calculations the computer solved.

  5. Logic The logic unit does all the calculations the computer needs solved.

  6. Store The store holds all the information to solve the problem.

  7. Control Unit The control unit keeps all the other units working correctly.

  10. 1941 In the year 1941, Konrad Zuse created the first computer. Return

  11. 1944 • In the year 1944, Howard Aiken and Grace Hopper invent the Harvard Mark I computer. It was 51 feet long, 8 feet wide, and 2 feet deep. The whole computer weighed about 10,000 pounds. Return

  12. 1951 • The UNIVAC computer was invented in 1951 and was the first commercial computer and was able to pick presidential winners. Return

  13. 1953 • IBM enters the “History of Computers” in 1953 with the IBM 701 EDPM computer. Return

  14. 1962 • Steve Russel and MIT invent the first computer game called “Spacewar” in the year 1962. Return

  15. 1964 • The computer mouse was invented by Douglas Engellart. It was named the “Mouse” because of the wire sticking out which looked like a tail of a mouse. Return

  16. 1974-77 • Between the years 1974-77, the first consumer computers were invented. Return

  17. 1975 • On April 4th 1975, Bill Gates creates Microsoft. Return

  18. 1981 • In the year 1981, IBM produces their first home computer. Return

  19. 1985 • Microsoft Windows comes out in 1985 and starts it’s friendly war with Apple. Return
