History of Sony Wireless • Sony started in the wireless mic business in 1974 • Sony was first to introduce a PLL synthesized VHF system in 1983 • Sony was first to introduce a direct oscillation type PLL synthesized UHF System in 1989 • Sony was first to introduce a unique SAW filter design for wireless tuners in 1993 • Sony was first to introduce a slot in type tuner in 1995 • Sony was first to introduce a 42 channel simultaneous system with the WD-880 in 1996 • Sony was first to introduce a dual channel portable diversity tuner in 2000 • Sony introduced a rack-mount tuner system with remote IP control in 2002 • Sony introduced cost-effective UWP series UHF diversity wireless systems in 2003 • Sony introduced new UWP Series and WL-800 Series models expanding the line up in 2005 • Sony introduced the 1st fully digital dual portable in camera receiver in 2007.

  3. Sony Wireless Microphones • 800 Series & UWP models have two UHF channel blocks • Models designated (30/32) • Contain UHF-TV channels 30, 31, 32 and 33 • Models designated (42/44) • Contain UHF-TV channels 42, 43, 44 and 45 •  Every wireless model needs to have a channel specified

Wireless Frequency Spectrum Issues • Sony’s Action Plan • Introduced new 800/UWP ch30/32 and ch42/44 models • Offer (charge basis) modification to existing WL-800 Series customers for Sony service to modify selected B-suffix models • Respond to spectrum regulation changes once they are decided • Continue to offer products according to current regulations • Monitoring FCC related activities

Ch 30/32 and Ch 42/44 Support for Existing Customers • Other existing WL-800 Series models (ones not included in the list above) can NOT be modified. • This is because the unique parts needed are discontinued and no longer available. • In this case, newly designed replacement models can be purchased in Ch 30/32 and Ch 42/44
