Oakridge Elementary School:Focus School Designation All Priority and Focus Schools retained their designation this year during The transition to new federal legislation, ESSA. If schools in Improvement were to exit this year OES would not have met exit criteria, based on 2015-2016 school report card measures. OES retained a “Tiers of Support” Identification of Level 2 (out of 3 levels). Some wonderful Growth was noted from 2014-2015:
19 schools improved SBAC scores in ELA by more than 5% New Data Chiloquin +28% Rosland + 19% Roosevelt + 18% Rosa Parks +13% Stella Mayfield +12% Highland +11% Oakridge +10%
16 schools improved SBAC scores in Math by more than 5% New Data Chenowith +16% Rosland +12% Bonanza +12% Whitman +11% Green Acres +11% Central Linn +11% Roosevelt +10%

Oregon is still drafting its state plan for school improvement and accountability under ESSA, to be submitted to USED this spring. Identification may involve more local measures than in the past. • TBD if Oregon will continue to serve current Priority/Focus Schools another year, or if schools under the new ESSA identification structure will begin to receive supports as early as 2016-2017. • Improvement plans and supports for Comprehensive and Targeted Schools under ESSA could include several current aspects, but will likely involve school boards more so than in the past.
