DHL International- Environmental policy • Minimise noise & engine emissions from all vehicles • Best use of fuels. • Minimise the energy used & the waste produced. • Influence suppliers to minimise environmental impacts in turn. • Take environmental issues into account in all major business decisions.

DHL International – Logistics and environment • DHL’s principal activity: Transport. • The green logistics challenge at DHL : • Ensure enormous economic benefits of linking customers and supplier's worldwide , • While reaching the minimal adverse environmental impacts and consequences due to transports.

DHL International – Concrete actions • Alternative Fuel Fleet : LPG-powered vehicles • LPG : safe and inexpensive • fewer harmful emissions than either petrol or diesel. • “Smart Th!nking” The electric Th!nk car has a 99% recyclable plastic body, and has a range of up to 85km and a perfectly respectable top speed of 90km/hr. • Energy saving in new facilities • Increased insulation • Reflection properties roofing materials, solar glazing • PIR (Passive Infra red) Intelligent Lighting • New built premises are cooled using natural ventilation and driven air.

DHL International – Concrete actions results & Future Plans Alternative Fuel Fleet : LPG-powered vehicles This fuel is now used to power 99 vans across the country.  Smart Th!nking Purchased of 2 Electric vehicles to be used in the London area, saving the environment from 2000-4000 KG's of CO2 emissions (compared to an average same size petrol fuelled vehicle.)  Energy saving new facility Managing Director, David Coles said: "This new building shows what can be done if the most advanced techniques are used in the construction of premises. Environmental awareness is the heart of our business and we are very proud to be opening a state of the art facility."
