Kinetic Energy and Efficiency of Atmosfear Ride Analysis

This analysis focuses on the Atmosfear ride, where 12 swings accommodate 2 people each. Each ride lasts for 12 seconds, with a swing radius of 15 meters and a combined mass of 118 kg for two riders. The kinetic energy at the top of the ride is calculated using the formula KE = ½mv², yielding approximately 3640 J. Additionally, we determine the ride’s efficiency, given an input energy of 50,000 J. The output energy per person is 4166.7 J, leading to an impressive efficiency of 87.3%.

  2. There are 12 swings on the Atmosfear and it fits 2 people per swing. Each round takes 12 seconds. The radius of the swing is 15 meters. The mass of two people on a swing is 118kg. Find: • The kinetic energy of the two people at the top of the ride. • The efficiency of the ride if the input energy that the motor gives is 50000J.

  3. 1. 2π(15) 12 = 7.85 m/s KE= ½mv² = ½(118)(7.85)² = 3638.5 J = 364 x 10 J

  4. 2. Energy Output Energy Input Efficiency= × 100% 50000 J 12 ppl = 4166.7 J/person 3640 4166.7 × 100% = 87.3%
