PLOT SUMMARY • Goodman Brown goes into forest • Encounters a man and gives Brown his walking stick and is invited to a ceremony • He encounters a group of people who he thinks is evil filled with the townspeople including his wife Faith • After returning from his trip in the forest he thinks that everyone is evil • He now lives in fear

Character Apperence • Dress like a puritan ex.Footnote:Male head of the household pg. 263 • Dress like a man from the late 1700s. • Looks down and out when he returned. “A stern, a sad, a darkly meditative, a distrustful, if not a desperate man, did he become, from the night of that fearful dream.” pg 271

  4. Character Speech • He speaks in a New England accent from 1800 century. ex. “ of all nights in the year, this one night must I tarry away from thee.” (pg. 263) • His speech also shows his love for his wife which made him not want to partake in the ceremony “My love and my Faith” pg. 263

  5. Character Environment • Starts out in the sunset pg. 263 • Glooming forest at night pg. 263 • Came back in the morning sunshine pg. 271

  6. Character Thoughts and Feelings • Loves his wife. “My love and my Faith.” pg 263 • Fear she is involved in the devil ceremony. “My Faith is gone.” pg 268 • Lives in fear when he came back. • No longer loves his wife as he used to

  7. Character Relation with Others • He and his wife loves each other dearly • At first trust his neighbors • When came back he no longer trust but fears them

  8. Claim • At the start of the story he was very trusting of his wife and fellow townspeople but changed mentally after returning from his night in the forest.
