IBF/13 - 21&22 March 2013 • A strong industrial contribution is necessary • to build one of the most challenging projects ever • IBF/13 aims • Conference (plenary session and thematic workshops): providing the European industry with updated information on the status of the ITER project, procurement procedures and forthcoming calls for tenders (2013-2014) • B2C (Business to Customer) meetings: improving mutual knowledge between the ITER project and industrialists (better knowledge by industry of ITER needs and constraints, better knowledge by ITER of industrial capacities and experience) • B2B (Business to Business) meetings: facilitating industrial partnerships on ITER, within and outside Europe (consortia to answer Calls for tender, partnerships with local companies);facilitating contacts between Fusion research laboratories and industry • Posters session:facilitating recruitment by industry, ITER and Euratom Associations of young people trained in nuclear fusion sciences (Trainees of EFDA Programme Goal Oriented Training) - To be confirmed • Place and venue:Toulon, Palais Neptune • Capacity: participants could be in the range of 500-800 • ITER Site visit: March, 20 (Wednesday)  • Optional programme:Touristic sightseeing tours & discovering Toulon’s economic potential

Structure  • Plenary session • Thematic workshops • B2B/B2C meetings (industrialists, IO and DA representatives, Fusion labs) • Poster session (Fusion Trainees - tbc) • Small booths (only for IO, F4E, ILOs) • Press programme (press conference 21 March at 11:00) • Gala dinner (21 March 2013 at the venue) • Welcome cocktail (20 March 2013 at the venue) • ITER site visit (20 March 2013 in the afternoon) • Discovery tour (20 March 2013): Toulon’s economic potential • Sightseeing tours (for accompanying people and participants, 20 to 23 March, 2013) • Organization: Conference programme jointly defined with ITER. Agence ITER France will take care of logistical aspects. • Opening of the dedicated website www.iterbusinessforum.commid December 2012 • Entrance fee: 209 € (VAT not included), all including (except sightseeing tours) • Audience: IO, F4E and DAs’ staff members (free of charge), Fusion Labs, industrialists • Promotion: special effort to be made through F4E ILO network, IO and F4E websites • Contact: sabine.portier@cea.fr

  5. Aim: It is proposed that the event addresses fusion in the broader energy context. The event would be aimed at showcasing new technologies and successes, providing media coverage and increasing public awareness about the energy issue and future energy sources. • The event would combine plenary and round table sessions, together with an exhibition in order to attract participants from the industry and the public. • Duration: 2-3 days. • Place and venue: Monaco (Grimaldi Forum?). • Capacity: Depending on the venue, participants could be in the range of 500-1,500. The exhibition would be open to the public. • Dates: To be determined (2013). • Structure: it is proposed that the event is built upon the following elements: • An opening plenary session with SAS Prince Albert II, ITER Director-General and high level and emblematic speakers; • Round table sessions for each source of energy. One could also invite external organisations to propose sessions (open call). The aim is to have dynamic and interactive sessions with good communicators so as to allow a real and open discussion (no institutional format!); • An exhibition of technological developments. The exhibition will showcase success stories in energy research and technology. Exhibits would come from: • Major research organisations • Private companies and public organisations which would like to exhibit some of their activities related to energy • The exhibition would be open to the public (and could possibly remain open one week after the conference closes). The exhibition will be open to the public free of charge; • A dedicated programme for the press. A press conference would take place after the opening plenary. Latest advances and achievements could be presented to the press (press briefing). • Organisation: A professional Conference Organiser (PCO) would be contracted to assist the Principality of Monaco and the IO in the practical organisation. • Budget: Based on the first edition in 2010, a budget of ca EUR 450,000 could be considered. • Audience: Scientists and industrialists, research managers and media/communication professionals. The general public would have access to the exhibition (including some specific presentations). • Promotion: A special promotion effort will be needed through scientific and professional networks.
