  3. The Painted Turtle is a reptile. It looks like a turtle. It is called a Painted Turtle because of its colorful neck and shell.

  4. It is 4-8 inches long and weighs about 11-18 ounces. It lives in ponds, slow running creeks, rivers and marshes all over Ohio.

  5. It eats meat like insects, fish, small animals and also plants. It is an omnivore that eats plants and meat . Painted Turtles live around 20 years.

  6. It is a prehistoric animal. They lay about 20 eggs at once. Babies are called hatchlings.

  7. They protect themselves by going into their shell. We like them because they are beautiful and fun to watch. They are awesome animals!
