  3. Duration Previously Now Four Year Agreement (July 1, 2006 – June 30, 2010) Two Year Agreement (July 1, 2010 – June 30, 2011) Faculty Relations

  4. Personnel Files Previously Now Art. 7.1 Right to view file • Art. 7.1 • Definition • Confidential • No anonymous or unsolicited concerns, unless investigated • Notice of any negative material – 60 days Faculty Relations

  5. Workload Previously Now • Art. 13 • Notify annually • Opportunity for faculty to provide information • Definition • Varies by unit • Principles • Process for assignment – no significant change Faculty Relations

  6. Grievance Procedures Previously Now • Art. 20 and 21: • Language did not reflect practice • Art. 21 • Emphasis on informal resolution • Time limits • FA’s involvement/role of Head or Dean Faculty Relations

  7. Bargaining Unit Exclusions Previously Now Associate Deans, and equivalent positions were included in the bargaining unit Associate Deans, and equivalent positions are excluded from the bargaining unit as of January 16, 2011 Faculty Relations

Productivity Lump Sum Payments Previously Now 1% lump sum based on fundraising target: awarded every year 1% lump sum payment based on Tricouncil funding: awarded some years, not others 1% bonus – fundraising precondition eliminated 1% lump sum payment based on Tricouncil funding discontinued – rolled into Professional Development Fund, effective July 1, 2011 Faculty Relations

Professional Development Funds Previously Now $500 per faculty member per year No money for Sessionals with non-continuing status 3 year accrual Effective July 1, 2011 $1100 per regular member per year 5 year accrual Effective Date: February 15, 2011 Sessionals with non-continuing status - $25 per credit 2 year accrual (as of July 1, 2011) Faculty Relations

Merit & Performance Salary Adjustment Awards Previously Now No language on any of the following New Language Effective July 1, 2011: Consultation w colleagues re: merit/PSA policy Annual distribution of procedures Normally no PSA in first 3 years Allocation by Deans for Heads & Directors Faculty Relations

  12. Length of Service Awards • New Language – Effective July 1, 2011 • Length of service Awards at years 20 and 25 • Amount: • 1/3 of a Career Progress Increment • For those past year 20, pay out over two years • Eligibility: • Continuous service • Must be in rank eligible for Career Progress Increments Faculty Relations

  13. Heads and Directors • Language in the collective agreement - in conjuncture with University Policy 22 • Terms and conditions in writing • Role • Recognition • Stipend • Administrative leave • Teaching release Faculty Relations

  14. Instructor, Senior Instructor, Professor of Teaching • Instructor: • Criteria clarified • Senior Instructor Effective Date: to be determined • Criteria expanded • New Rank of Professor of Teaching Effective Date: to be determined • Outstanding achievement • 15 new CPI increments Faculty Relations

  15. Tenure and Promotion: Meetings with the Head Earlier Meetings – no later than June 30 Purpose of the meeting Dossier due by September 15 Faculty Relations

  16. Streamlined Process: Senior appointments New appointment process – may be used for senior faculty appointments • Departmental Committee with Head, Faculty Committee representative and a Senior Appointment Committee representative • Dean • President Faculty Relations

  17. Tenure & Promotion Reviews Everyone involved in review will consider: • “Provisions of the collective agreement, • Concepts of procedural fairness, • Appropriate standards of excellence across and within faculties and disciplines” President must consider: • “All relevant contextual factors”. Faculty Relations
